ARCHIVED: [DEAD ROM]The Scott Pilgrim ROM (CM7 Gingerbread, Zefie Edition)

Hey guys, just wanted to post this. I ended up putting together a sort of FAQ for beginners to this ROM and this thread to make it easier for them. Now the most common information is all in one place without having to search around for it.

http://filebox.vt.edu/users/acromack/cm7faq.html

If zefie or a mod wants to place this link in the OP, that would be swell. Hopefully this will get the thread discussions more streamlined by filtering out the many questions newcomers have. Let me know if I left anything out, but for now I've done enough procrastination for this exam I have tomorrow..

NICE work acromack... VERY great summary and very well put together. (I didn't know about the double-tap to zoom thing, although when I tried it I just got an FC lol).

A few pedantic comments?

Make it clear that for themes, we want HDPI, (it's clear in the link you post, but this IS a nooby FAQ right?).

Also, explain what "proximity sensor not working" means. Something like, "when you finish a call, the screen will often stay black, and you won't be able to make it light up no matter which button you press. A very short term solution to this is to swipe the area to the left of the Sprint logo with your thumb while repeatedly pressing the power button until your screen lights back up. Others have reported that checking "Always Use Proximity" in "Settings->Call Settings" solves the problem".

Finally, perhaps a link to Wireless Tether to make it clear what should be downloaded?

Done, done, and done. Thanks for the feedback!

Ugh, I swear, last before I go to bed. Too much rye tonight means I typed "solvs" instead of "solves" in my initial post about prox sensor...you copied my typo :p.

Second, in the theme section, you called it hdmi, not hdpi, (I made the same mistake today whilst trying to search for hdpi themes...).

I just flashed xionia kernal 010 with this latest build of cm7 and it was not able to get past ths sprint boot screen, just flashed the latest cm7 again and back to normal.

Sent from my rooted LG Optimus S running CM7

I think for use with CM7 you will want to use the xionia 010 experimental anykernel install, not the boot image.

lulz. can you tell i'm a bit tired too? haha

Having a weird issue with adw. Seems when I restart the device it screws my adw ex up. When it starts up all my Widgets have had a problem loading ad I get fcs. I must uninstall and them reinstall ans set everything up again. Only on newest build. Anyone else seeing this?

Are your widgets installed to you sd card? They have to be installed to the phone's internal memory, otherwise you'll get problems such as yours when first starting up, as information on the sd card isn't read right away (the phone has to 'prepare sd card' before it can read anything on it). Therefore, if there's widgets on the sd card, the phone won't be able to load them properly right after boot.

Of course not.

Installed an older version and rebooted and widgets stayed. Really weird as the save version now giving me trouble had no issues on the 3/10 build. Could a theme cause this?

I doubt a theme would do this. Is it happening regardless of launcher, as well? Because I have no widget issues with Go launcher, although I am only running the 03102011 build, so it very well could be an issue with 03142011..

EDIT: Somewhat unrelated, but came across this article just now, which implies that we will be seeing official gingerbread around that same time as well (or maybe a bit after). What implications does this have for this project? I assume it would be a short amount of time after the update that the remaining bugs for this CM7 port will be squashed. I, for one, will probably choose to stay with CM7 for its added features over stock gingerbread..

boot loop and then loss of restore.....

coming from tr 1.8............... flash to cwma .5, flash new nightly(with gapps) and reboot. Running good, reboot into recovery to flash v10 any kernal and then reboot. Get boot loop at scott pilgram.... wipe everything reflash rom, gapps, v10, reboot and runs GREAT... go to make a backup, reboot and hit boot loop again.... wipe everyhting and try to restore and got unable to restore, use adb....try to restore to tr 1.8 and get same "use adb" message. can't find any thread that mentions this prob.. reflash recovery(cwma .5) and restored cm7 backup and then hit boot loop again....was able to restore to tr 1.8 this time though. Any ideas? Gonna try to reflash cm7 again and reload my apps and then backup again to see if I screwed up before my last backup on new nightly....

Actually it looks lime a theme issue. Rebooted without a problem. After my last post installed a different theme and rebooted. When it came back up the Widgets had a problem loading (though they did come back after a minute) and the launcher runs like crap (fc everywhere). About to uninstall and reinstall again. Just had to check out the honeycomb theme referenced. I personally am liking the minimalist theme in the market.

You are the second person to report boot loops with xionia kernel v010... I don't know what is wrong but there seems to be a problem there....go back to v009 and wait it out? Sorry about the corrupted backup...hope you can restore the important stuff.

Sent from my phone...excuse the spelling mistakrs.

I my opinion the HoneyBread theme is the best looking theme so far and you can down load it from Honeycomb Theme - CM7 Theme - Alpha 4 - xda-developers Its an apk file that you install.

This theme doesn't seem to work right on my phone, the notification bar is almost completely transparent making the power bar at the top unusable. I'm also noticing the bottom background of the keyboard is a white block. The icons and other visuals arenice though. Also I don't like that it changed my ringtones. Has anyone else who tried this theme had these problems?

as long as I start from scratch the nightly runs GREAT with v10 anykernal. Have it back up again, just afraid to backup or reboot...will see what happens in morn.....

(i am impatient, so thats probably why I missed other report of bootloop.....thanks for the heads up)

Pretty sure themes will change sound as well as visual aspects. As for the visual glitches, that theme you're using is probably for hdpi screen (larger than what we have). Alternatively, you can use this app to change screen density to approx. 140 to emulate an mdpi screen. Beware, though, this will make everything appear somewhat smaller - but it should make hdpi themes work properly.

I flashed the v10 experiment kernel and had no problems. About to play with the touch screen.

yeah, it actually flashed fine for me as well.

Just wiped cache/dalvik first (out of habit, not sure if its actually necessary.)
