Alright, had a random idea. Keep in mind I understand absolutely nothing about update scripting, so I might be wrong about it...

But why not just take the meta-INF folder from an older version and patch it in to the new version?

Tried it myself and it seems to boot fine, so uploading what I got to mediafire and will post a link when it's done (not doing dropbox like Zefie I'm only getting about 20kbps on it D:). Anyone see any obvious reasons that I might be missing where this won't update it properly? (I did do a system wipe before flashing it)

Thanks so much trekkie1701c, and to zefie for his wonderful progress on this ROM, it got a lot further than anyone thought it would, i'm sure. We wouldn't have gingerbread without ya!

There is no urgent need for gb. Froyo was a huge jump from eclair, but gb is a minor update.

I understand that zef et al dont feel their effort is worth the hassle. On hero, we had a huge scene supporting froyo, but the optimus s scene isnt getting support from xda and official cm7 because of its niche status. Hero was a watershed device, the optimus, not so much.

By june we'll have our own nexus s, so all his efforts will be moot. How many of us will stick by the optimus when the ns or evo2 drop?

Me too I just got this phone in January like I'm goin to ditch it that soon. This phone and cm7 are a perfect match. Thanks again to zefie, trekkie, and all the other devs that makes this phone awesome

I don't care about GB as much as I do about AOSP. CM7 by Zefie is the first AOSP-type ROM available for us, which to me is VERY important. Even if Zefie had ported CM6 instead, (which SMCcloud was making the attempt at, I THINK, but didn't get all the functionality out if it), I'd go for it. I just want fast, clean, bloat free, sprint free, free as in speech not beer free software on my phone.

I'm hoping mine makes it my full 22 months, (thanks to the a-holes at sprint changing the "premier" plan so no one on my plan gets the 12 month upgrade!)

i want gb because having to tap between letters is ******ed and the slider tab thing should have been there from the start.

me thanks to sprint's ******ed premier demotion i wont be getting a new device anytime soon :/

LG better update to GB like promised.

X2 I love the slider thingy when typing. Plus its smooth quick and pretty. Why wouldn't someone want it? Its plenty stable. And I'm on this phone till the world ends 12/2012 lol

I agree! I guess it's alright if you had toothpicks for fingers. This is one of the many reasons I like this rom. Thanks again for the hard work.

I think I may have figured out what was causing proximity problems with cm7 on my phone. I have cleared everything and flashed the latest nightly. I noticed that after changing my wallpaper to Beautiful Live Weather, that my proximity sensor stopped working. So...

I changed the wallpaper back to a normal wallpaper, rebooted and the proximity sensor worked again. (I made a 3 or 4 calls to test it, moving the phone away from my ear several times)

I then changed back to the Beautiful live weather wallpaper, the proximity sensor stopped working.

So I went back to the normal and rebooted and the proximity sensor was working again.

I will keep my optimus s untill I'm eligible for another full customer loyalty upgrade which is another year and 8 months. I'm all about free.

I'm loving my phone and all its features now with CM7. pressing menu twice to unlock, mute the phone by mapping it to the voice button, camera buttons great, the power widgets do everything i need. I tried the evo and I couldn't stand it... to big and missing all the above features so I came back to the LG and will probably be here for awhile. Ditto on the sliders to edit text, all this should of been built in from the start.

Great work on the port guys,, the Optimus is Sprint's best and most usable android phone

Will 14th nightly work on the Optimus V or do I still have to run 031202011?

Not to be mean but why would you ask in a Optimus S thread? You could like, find out, if it is that big of a deal, then post in your own guys' forum so that other Optimus V users know..

One person asked me what it would take for official V support in my stuff and I told the truth, I would need a donated model. I never hard back from that person. Of course it is fine, I don't feel like paying for a service I don't need just to test a device anyway :P

Hrm....I've always been on the stock CM7 wallpaper....prox sensor still sucks for me.

I turned off the GB lock and unlock animations under Display in CM settings, and that seemed to help slightly, but the problem still occurs, and it may just be my imagination that it helped...

This may sound like a dumb question but is there somewhere I can download themes for CM7 or am I stuck with the three that come with it.

Alright thanks and after I find a theme should I flash it or is there a special method I should follow

They typically come as apk's you just install like anything else. I'll warn you, though, check to make sure what screen size/res it's intended for. Most aren't for our hdpi screens, and a modification is needed to be made to them to make them work properly. Some have this done, some do not. I imagine you could spoof the screen to emulate a different dpi, but that might cause other problems and you might not like what it does anyway.
