Bad Battery Life - ThundeRom

Hello All,

I love this ROM and would like to continue using but am experiencing 8-10 hour battery life. I do not have Facebook synced and really only use Email, Gmail, Calendar, Beautiful Home Widget, etc. I have SetCpu set to autodetect. Does anyone have any ideas on how to improve this? I?m showing the phone is awake about 50% of the time.

Please help.

It probably isn't the ROM causing bad battery life. Whenever I have troubles with battery I consult System Panel's (paid) monitoring service to track down what is killing my battery. Here is by far the best guide to solving battery problems.

Enjoy.

What does:
Much improved memory management
mean?

the clock changes are nice, now I don't have to flash the overclocking kernel
I still use setcpu for the profiles

Do you think its worth while to use 'AutoKiller Memory' which adjusts the page settings for the internal android app killer?

Do not use a task killer of any kind it will drain your battery. When I first flashed thunderom I put a task killer on and went from 100% to 20% in 2 hrs. The rom works way better than stock and if my phone os sitting with no use while off charger I have seen a 0% battery drain

*not true*

It doesn't actually kill tasks, it changes the limits in the built in android task killer so the android task killer will work faster or less fast depending on free memory

Review - Autokiller Memory Optimizer for Root Users | Free Apps | Droid Culture

Manages the settings for:
'Empty app, Content provider, Hidden app, Secondary server, Visible app, Foreground app'

Doesn't actually run in the background, only to set these settings 1 time at boot

I used actual task killers and they killed my battery.

but my main question is, what kind of things do enhanced memory management mean? Adjusting these settings or other stuff?

i use juice saver app and it tells me it increases my battery by like 1.86 i don't how accurate that is but it still does help alot

you probably need to isolate whether it is the rom problem. looks like you have at least 2 variables here: thunderom 1.6.x and set_cpu. Try turning off set_cpu and compare with what you have previously. if you have more variables (like you have installed a new app), then it is easier to isolate those out, too. good luck.

Maybe I'm messing with my phone too much :) Can anyone out there share their 'running time' from Spare Parts? Mine is about 50%. At least the last couple of days have been....

hi, everyone's runtime will be different. i have seen ppl reporting 2 days of runtime, some rreport 10 hours. There are so many ways to improve and worsen the runtime...

I'm really impressed with this rom. I am a brand new Android user. Just got my phone when my upgrade came up on January 1st. And this was the first site I came to based on heavy recommendation. So, I joined and was impressed with all of the information. Great stuff. So, I immediately researched rooting the Optimus. Went the long route so I understood how to use the device and to use the different tools, especially ADW. So, I got it rooted, did up the custom recovery, and straight to ThundeRom on the first day. I played around with it a little bit and noticed an immediate increase in speed and just the overall look and feel of it. I am very grateful to all of you here who put in time to make it easier for me to learn how to use my phone. I am very comfortable with the phone now and I definitely owe Android Central a lot of thanks. I look forward to continuing to learn more and talking with everyone here. Thanks again....

Download the 600 boot file from the op. Flash in recovery and reboot. I had the same issue.

We tweak the low memeory management levels, both are the same just we have the levels already set that we know are solid numbers to use. There's not really any need to adjust them as it's set to keep the phone as snappy as possible but not kill off processes that are important and need to run. In near future there might be a way to adjust the numbers just cause options are nice to have.lol

If you feel the need for speed.lol Then you need to get a overclocking app. Setcpu, overclocking widget, etc, etc. Some phones are picky and might not want to boot at 748 but they will probably run that once they are up and running.

Quick question. Before I rooted my phone all I had to do is plug my phone in to my laptop and it showed up as external storage. Now it asks me to installed drivers. What has changed since rooting and flashing. btw I rooted and flashed using the no pc method

It's a very big probably, too!

Turn off USB Debugging for regular data connection to PC and back on when done.
