I get a problem. Today I see a notice that there is new system update availabe. Shall I do that? Will there be any conflictions with the thunderom?

Thanks

Solution: read the last 4 pages of this thread, their dedicated to that problem and include its solution.

can i go out on a limb and assume this is a remote desktop app, if thats the case it's funny that i'm having problems with teamviewer, just keep getting FCs every time i try to make the connection to my home computers.

No, it's not a remote desktop app. It streams your media from your home pc to your phone - transcodes it on the fly so it's guaranteed to play/be compatible no matter the source format. Orb's official app OrbLive, however, falls out of sync with the audio almost immediately when streaming video - which is why i stream from the website they provide. Problem is, both Lego Rom and ThunderRom act like the video format isn't supported which is 3gp. But This worked on my previous phone (I switched a month ago), and tested this on 2 other (different) phones as recent as a week ago. It just won't work on mine since moving from stock. I tried all of the buildprops too. Just has me frustrated.

Yes, both phones I tested it on don't support flash and by the blocky picture that comes in, you can tell it's 3gp. Though Orb has announced they no longer support that format, you can trick it into using that format by not selecting a format - just something I discovered by accident and haven't shared with their community that's complaining, I don't want them to fix that "bug"

Yea cuz u cant update something that isnt there. Its an update for Sprints "Firmware or ROM" You decided against that when u flashed ur droid with a custom ROM. :)

Okay well it hasn't prompted for an update again since that happened so maybe that's all everybody needs to do?

You will be back lol. It wont fix anything. I did the same steps thinkin it might just ignore it again.... Just do like everyone says and use the zip and flash it. Presto, done.

Worked like a charm! Ps. if I wasn't a student I would donate, but I'm broke, we need experts like ya'll in this world!

Awesome guys, Thanks! I will follow threads more often. When I talk my wife out of that paypal password I'm gonna buy ya'll a few beers. :)

I apologize for the noob question, but how to I flash a .zip file on Android? When I open the .zip using a file explorer, it just shows the included files & paths (it doesn't do anything). Is there an app that actually extracts the files to the correct paths?

I'm on TR1.3... will the OTA notification fix zip work with all versions of TR? If not, can I add a few edits to my build prop so it emulates what the zip is doing?

You flash zip files in android using a custom recovery. in order to use a custom recovery you need root.

Heres my recommendation:
First you need to root your phone. Depending on your SW version theres an easy way and a less easy but not too hard way. If you have V9, pursue the easy way (see notes below). To determine which version (V) you have on your phone go to menu > Settings > about phone > and look at the SW Version field. If this field ends in V9 cool, thats not too shabby at all. If it ends in VC, which is the brand new update being pushed out his week, it's still not going to be terribly hard but don't plan on 5 minutes and done type of thing.

if you have VC - You need to go to this thread to root. Now please read it carefully. Not just the first post but the last 5 pages or so some great info has arrived to help those who accepted their VC update OTA. Any questions about the root process should be asked/discussed in there. Also make sure you search it and read well because theres a good chance someone already asked and it's been answered which saves you time waiting for a reply :)

Once you're done rooting VC, if you have VC, move on over to the custom recovery thread. These are the steps to install a custom recovery on a rooted phone which will alow you to flash a zip file (your ultimate goal) that's not signed by LG, like the one's us developers make.

If you have V9 - Right now thats kind of a curse and a blessing. V9 roots, custom recovery, flash ROM pretty much easier than most phones I've seen in the past. Here is my thread on how to root, flash a custom recovery, flash a ROM without touching a computer. Please understand that theres a very good reason this method of rooting won't work on VC, they patched an exploit that this method uses. Now the curse part of it is this, VC included a newer radio which may result in better cell reception for you. In order to get that radio, you need to do some stuff to get it to apply but in the process you make this root method void and then will need to default to the slightly harder process. Details on the "proper" way to apply the VC update can be found and discussed in THIS THREAD.

Make sure you post any questions comments or concerns in those threads so people who are working on or dealing specifically with that process can give you the proper attention. Also, and i probably sound like a broken record, read those threads and lots of others threads on these forums. Theres a ton of information and i know it can be overwhelming, trust me i know, but read it once, read it again, read as much as possible. You'll notice that certain things start to make sense which sounded like we were speaking a different language the first time you read it. Alright now I'll stop talking your ear off and unleash you after 1 final critical piece of advice, search search search. Theres so much information in so many threads that the search function is going to get you from A to B much easier. keep in mind that the first time you search, you may be using the wrong wording, or maybe the right wording but the thread you're looking for might be on the second page. Think of it like a google search, clean clear specific words, cut the fluff, and even the best search string might return your result on the 3rd page.

Excellent post, KS. I spent the first couple of days just reading. Once you do that and you become accustomed to the language being used and you begin to understand the why behind the what. A major thank you for all you guys have done. As for me, I am still with v9, rooted with custom recovery and TR, disabled the ota's.

Installing Thunderom....
Went from software V8 to V9 then LG updated to VC....all went well.
installed custom recovery....no prob.
installed ThundeROM....no prob.
rebooted phone and noticed a 1X in place of the 3G in the notification area.
tried to access google account and could not connect to server.
tried internet, same thing, can't connect to server.

Any ideas?
Thanks
