Should i reflash? I don't want to wipe everything.

One more suggestion just came to mind. During testing there was a period of time where my phone ran terribly for a couple of hours. I had run the ROM (this build) for several days without an issue then i remembered something .... i installed setcpu and switched to a conservative gov. I switch it back to ondemand, and uninstalled setcpu and the difference was immediate. I rebooted for good measure but i could instantly tell the scaling on LG's conservative is terrible and should not be used.

The buttons on the bottom won't wake the screen anymore. They are fully functional when the screen is on but these buttons being able to wake the phone are what causes accidental calls from your pocket. The power button is the only button to wake the phone now with this rom. This became a necessity after I butt-dialed beezy at 6am one day, driving in a blizzard rocking out to guns-n-roses :)

I'm going to bed. Beezy will be on shortly if you need anything else.

Does all these ppl not read the upgrades before they flash? :-!
I was so excited when I just saw a version of TR but when I read your upgrades and saw the key remapping I was very dissapointed. My main reason is I use the search key to wake. So I won't be upgrading to 1.7 glad I have a 1.6 copy tho.
I dont understand how ppl Butt dial if the screen is locked? I personally dont put mine in back pocket because thats a sure way to break it imo.
Still playing with Lego and only went to it because it has the option to reboot in the shut down menu.
Still love you guys work tho. Your giving us what LG and Sprint didnt. :)

update to everyone.

1) i went back to stock nandroid
2) used LG updated to upgrade to VC

and now i cant get passed the LG intro screen. I cant even boot into recovery.

dont make the same mistake i made.

There are a lot of posts on this problem, and even a couple of threads devoted to this issue. First thing I suggest is to pull your battery for a few minutes, then reinsert battery, and then try the recovery entry technique: home + volume down + power, releasing all when the LG logo first shows up. Repeat as necessary. Sometimes I will have to do it several times before I can get it into recovery mode, but once there just reboot. The trick is to not power down. I use quick boot from the market to easily reboot on the phone with no problem, and you can power down/up if connected to your computer vis USB. There is also the "Un-Brick" mentioned in a few posts prior to yours, but I believe some are still having the problem after powering down.

These are my steps from TR 1.6.2.

Confirmed (By me)

1. Nandroid backup from before ThundeROM. (Stock everything, but custom recovery (BIOS))
2. Updated to VC via LG Updater Tool. (Still had custom recovery (BIOS))

Says I am not supported for update. Went back to V9 software before TR using my first nandroid backup when I rooted first time.

Dont really want to do total unroot method to v8 and reroot vc....

I hkpe an easierway gets figured out soon

thank you for the ROMs. I tried everything.. reverting to stock to do the VC.. which seemed to 1/2work.. software was updated but baseband read old... tried LEGO which booted but would not do any data (unable to activate)... then tinkering somehow got 1x to work atleast.. and today i just put 1.7 thunderom on there and its back to working like a charm.

thank you so much.

...though i dislike having to hit power to get the screen on... i never had a pocket dial.

Do any of the oc kernels work with 1.7? I've tried xionia 007 and 008 and they both stick me on the android splash for about ten minutes, then says that all of my space on my phone is gone. deletes half my apps and says there's only like 14 mb left. Has anyone else had success?

Yeah, I've been playing with them too. There is about a 40 - 50 Mb difference in free space and the boot time is at least 5 times longer. I'm sticking with the original kernel and wait for OC support.

Some of you ready amaze me. I'm not trying to start anything, but total time to completely go back to stock V8, then V9, then VC and reroot with TR 1.7 was about 30 mins. If you have titanium backup, restoring apps and data takes another few minutes. Its so easy.... I guess I'm just ignorant, cause I don't see the big deal...

No need to get sh**ty just because some people are trying to find a quicker easier way for people to do something...

Let me make sure I understand everything. Please excuse my noob questions but there are a ton of post in this thread.

The phone is currently running 1.6. My friends phone keeps bugging them to update it. In order to update the phone I have to go back to stock and then update the phone and then reroot and then reinstall the custom rom?

Will I lose my custom recovery too? Putting recovery was hard for me to do without a keyboard. Is there a easier way now?

Sorry if these questions are in the wrong spot. Let me know if I need to post them else where.

Each update provided by KS or BE has effortlessly been loaded onto my phone with no problems. I thank you for thorough explainations and instructions. Making the choice to root was a big decision for me (I don't know why, possibly fear of bricking), but reading this thread had eased my fears, and gave me the courage to root. I am very computer and semi-code saavy, so I don't really know why I was so scared.

But anyways, I loaded up 1.7 the way others had done from 1.6.2 and V9...first through LG Update Tool, then I simply flashed it, no issues to report so far...

I really don't mind re-downloading my minimal list of music apps, and choice games, so I usually just start from scratch with a complete wipe and start over...I will let you know how this goes after I OC like always to 787 and fine tune it for a day or so.

Thanks for your creativeness and dedication, it is much appreciated, and a donation is in the works for you as well. From a long-time lurker.

@Cotano:
Yes. You have to unroot and revert the phone to stock. Then, you update the phone FROM THE COMPUTER (NOT OVER THE AIR), then you re-root the phone, then you add the custom recovery back and then you re-ROM the phone to your liking. Took me a little while to figure all that out, but it's working well now.

Update.

I am getting another phone. Should be here Wednesday afternoon. I am sad to report that I am gonna retire from the custom ROM stuff after only a month. I can't risk another $35 replacement fee.

I have yet to EVER brick a phone. Following directions and reading before hand does wonders!!

I just came from lego rom, to this. I used the LG updater tool to go straight from lego, install the update, back into recovery, wipe, then install thunder 1.7, and have no issues. I retained root, recovery, and everything is working without a flaw!!!

Wasn't trying to be sh**ty, but people are waiting days, weeks, who knows how long for something they could do in less then an hour...just my 2 cents, and I'm not gonna take up anymore thread space on it...my apologies if I offended anyone
