Does the LG updater tool leave the recovery partition untouched?

I am just wondering if I can get to VC from v9 by leaving my custom recovery as is, running the tool, then restoring my backup of TR 1.6.2, then flash 1.7 over that. Sorry if this has been outlined already but there are 3 or 4 threads and I skimmed through most of them and did not find any definitive answer to that.

Just did update from 1.6.2 V9 to 1.7.

Update was a bit slow, phone startup was a bit slow. My Quad score was 1k+ now it is 750-800.

I believe I am going to back down to 1.6.2 and VC update then 1.7. See how it goes from there.

Did you guys do something to take the mapping away from the hard keys at the bottom? I can no longer turn my screen back on with those buttons and then unlock my phone.

Also, I'm getting a lot of weird Hands Free Activation failing but everything seems to be working except 3G on my husbands phone. We did not do the Sprint update and were running TR 1.6.2. We pretty much have the same apps, except I am running ADW EX and he is not.

Thanks!

I'm having a similar issue with 3G. I never did the VC update but the baseband string in my settings menu claims that I did. Strange.

My baseband after 1.7 says VC, but software version still says V9. I think I just didn't understand something and skipped a step. I'm wondering if we need to have TR 1.6.2, run OTA and then flash 1.7. I thought flashing OTA on top of 1.6.2 would brick the phone...and I don't want to do that to either of ours.

My phone seems to be working fine, BTW. It was just a little slow the first time to get everything loaded after boot, but that is to be expected.

I just put my husband's phone back to 1.6.2, so we'll wait and see what Kev says.

Yes, the V9 update to 1.7 is a fail.... I suggest VC update then 1.7. As you will get alot of lag, hands free activation, and also I believe the mapping of the key's is off.

K n B, it's kind of offical... no v9 - 1.7, just VC - 1.7.

Rolled husband's phone back to 1.6.2 and everything seems to be working like a charm again.

BTW, on my phone, Baseband is LS670MVC_60401001 and Software Version is LS670ZV9. Wouldn't they both have changed to VC if they really were VC?

IF I have 1.6.2 and then do VC OTA, won't that unroot my phone? Ugh. Stupid Sprint/LG...I really liked my phone the way it was but want the latest software!! lol

/stomps off like a 2 year old! ;-)

Did you run the OTA bug me not.zip??

Also I am experimenting so since I have v9 I will use my N backup (Which I made before I went to TR) I will update to the latest in everything. Attempt to flash....

So I will update how it went, when I get done.

Same troubles with hard buttons not waking and with hands free issues. Also running a phone that has NOT been updated OTA. Rolling back to 1.6.2...

Yep, I rolled back two phones from 1.7 to 1.6.2 and everything is working great again.

The buttons on the bottom won't wake the screen anymore. They are fully functional when the screen is on but these buttons being able to wake the phone are what causes accidental calls from your pocket. The power button is the only button to wake the phone now with this rom. This became a necessity after I butt-dialed beezy at 6am one day, driving in a blizzard rocking out to guns-n-roses :)

I'm going to bed. Beezy will be on shortly if you need anything else.

LOL too funny! Thanks for the post. If I know it's supposed to do that, I'm okay with it...I had just gotten in the habit. I just thought it was related to the weirdness going on with my phone.

Thanks again!

Next rom update, you should have the choice for mapped out, or not mapped out home row key's. As I use them alot... an I never butt dialed anyone before.
