Hi There, Is there any one succesfully temporary rooted/permanent a Optimus One P500 here using x4root 1.30?

I tried but it terminated. and does note seems to do anything after rebooted. my phone is at Android 2.2.1, kernel 2.6.32.9, build FRG83, software version v10e-nov-30-2010. Is it rootable?

Thanks so much in advanced.

Having problems getting your custom recovery?
Download ROOT EXPLORER ( paid app in the market )
Allow su
Then at the top of the screen your able to change from r/o to r/w
Then go to system and change that to r/w. Then do the same in system/bin/ folder.
Then redo everything in the terminal emulator, and no more problems ;-)
Well that's what I ended up having to do. I don't know why I didn't think of this hours ago.

Hello! I am new to all of this and I'm getting frustrated :( I rooted the phone without using the computer and I'm in the emulator and after I type the cat line is says "cannot create/system/bin/flash_image: read-only file system. Can anyone help me figure this out? I'm wondering if I didn't do something right when I copied the 2 downloads to the root of my sd card. Thanks so much! I need a step by step on what to do once I download the 2 files because I think this is where I"m going wrong :(

Be sure to type EXACTLY as show in the instructions. I made a few errors with spaces and the first coipel times. Then I made to sure to type letter for letter and such and got it to work.

I don't understand what your saying? I have to have things spelled out for me sorry.

I did like about 20x and i'm not exaggerating. It says that it doesn't read the zip file. I don't think I did that step correctly. I have astro and followed the directions i'm so frustrated :(

okay, when I bring up the system recovery it doesn't have everything on it like it should, it has reboot system now, apply sdcard:update.zip, wipe data/factory reset and wipe cache partition? That's it. No other options. Please help i've been doing this for hours now and can't get past the recovery part. Thanks so much!

You need to unzip flash_image to your sdcard root....did you do that, or just copy the flash_image.zip file?

Edit: I'm talking about steps 7 and 8 from the recovery part of the OP:
Ok great! This is exactly what I've been looking for. This is so confusing for me can you please tell me in step by step directions what exactly i'm supposed to do with both zip files? I read what you said about it but can you just start from the beginning where you open astro and go to download and then what to do from that point? I would really appreciate it, I've been messing with this for several hours now. I probably have used the emulator about 20x :(

Now does unzip and extract mean the same thing? I don't know how to do that either.

balking at the custom recovery step

Hi all - So I've got limited experience rooting (had a Sprint Hero w/Cyanogen mod) and not familiar with the custom recovery process. Is this a requirement or would the stock recovery suffice? How does one get to stock recovery on the Optimus. On my Hero I never had to use the command line and honestly a little freaked out about getting part way thru and bricking the phone.

Anyhow, thanks for all the work on the ROM and information!

Best,

R.

I'm so confused as to what to do? I rooted my phone with the zroot and then I read about the update coming so I clicked unroot on the application. Is there anything else I need to do with my phone before accepting the update? Thanks

Nope but if you accept the update through OTA rather than through the LG software then theres a chance you may never have root again, or a very long wait depending on circumstances.

How do I update through LG software and what is that?
