I use the do-not-disturb feature to prevent phone calls, texts, and notifications from bothering me. Only Alarms are allowed to make a sound or vibrate. That way, it's my alarm clock.
I do not power down at night, as I use a digital clock app on my nightstand and have the phone in a charging cradle. I keep Wi-Fi on so that it can download updates for apps, sync my cloud files, etc. during the night while I sleep so that I'm not annoyed by my data slowing down during the day for that nonsense.
The only thing I power down for is if for some strange reason I need to remove the SIM or SD card or swap them out. I did this earlier this week when I upgraded the SD card to a faster one with a higher capacity.
I do perform a restart each morning as part of my routine. Not that I've noticed it is needed, but I do know if you go long enough without one, it can cause slowdowns. Therefore, I've made it part of my daily routine. When I am about to jump in the shower, I perform a restart before jumping in. That way, it's ready for the day when I am and I never experience those annoying slowdowns you get from running for 30 days straight without a restart.
