Download the Official Droid X 2.3.340 OTA Here

you'll need to find another path as you wont be able to get this update unless you have all the blur elements that were originally on the device. there are system dump's out there, i believe on androidforums.com is where i found the file, but more than likely you'll need to SBF to get back to normal so you can apply this update and any future OTA's.

Can I just do a factory reset on the phone and then update? I just want to do the most simplest procedure at this point...

Sowhen i go to download rions updated my phone says that it cannot support this content when i click download...any ideas?

Can someone please lend a hand. I have installed the newest update and ran the Z4 foot app. I click on permanent root and it runs a few things and then reboots the phone. Problem is it keeps going into clockworkmod recovery and then I have to click to reboot the phone and the root doesn't work.

I have uninstalled bootstrap but am still getting this start up screen. Is there anything I can do to get past these screen and just reboot the normal way so I can get root?

i've run into this before where the phone boots into bootstrap recovery. to fix i've done in the past was go into the app and hit the bootstrap recovery until i received a "success" message. after i did that, no more boots into recovery. so, try downloading koush's bootstrap app again and try this.

2 QUESTIONS...IF SOMEONE COULD HELP PLEASE?

I finally got one of the links to work on p4. Installation is completed.

Question? Can I delete the zipped folder from my SD card after the update?
And should I use the OTA update when it finally gets pushed to my phone and delete this one or would you just keep this one. I know their both the same but should I keep one over the other...any differences?

Thanks in advance.

are you trying to download the file from your mobile browser? if so, make sure unknown sources is checked in applications settings. i just downloaded the file to my mac, and placed it in my dropbox folder and pushed it to my phone that way.

yes, u can now delete the update.zip file from your sd card if your already on .340. if you try to do the OTA, your phone will tell you that your up to date unless for some reason verizon/moto decide to change the version number. but that is unlikely.

Sorry for all the newb questions but...

Since this update has flash preinstalled into the phone. Do I delete the one I previously downloaded from the market?

its not a problem, ask away. so, i noticed when i did the update, i was actually prompted from the market to download another update. i wouldn't delete flash, just check in the market and if its not showing an update, then your good

Thanks. That's why I asked. I was in the market and noticed the update. Just double checking. Thanks again.

you can give it a try, but its not going to bring back any blur/bloat that was removed.

Hmm. Would you mind sharing or linking some info on how to properly get things in order for me and others in my situation? I'm still new to Android's OS and really don't want to screw up the phone.
:'(

Yup I noticed there was a flash update as well as a gmail update, just update them is all you need to do tho :)

I'm having some problems with this. I was rooted, themed, running custom rom, etc, but wanted to get up to date. I downloaded and flashed 928's back-to-stock 2.2 without issue. Problem came in when it came time to apply the update.zip found here. I downloaded the 340update.zip file to my mac a few times, but it kept automatically opening it to a folder every time and not leaving it zipped. Finally I just compressed it myself, renamed it update.zip, dropped it on the root of the SD. I just tried flashing it via stock recovery and it said update failed. When it booted out of that it dropped me into clockwork. I figured what the hell and tried to flash it from there, too, but it still wouldn't take and locked up on the install. Then I took the folder that downloaded to my mac and renamed it update.zip and tried just dropping that onto my SD. Again, no good. It said e-signature failed. Anyone have any idead?

I am rooted with factory ROM, running system version 2.3.15. When copying the update.zip to the root of the sd card and trying the update it fails. When trying the ota update, I get the message "check for update was not available at this time. Try again later." Has anyone else run into either issue I am facing, please help.

if you want the update, or OTA, you need to be on stock 2.3.15. All Blur, Bloat also needs to be on your device. If you made a nandroid backup before putting a custom rom/theme, then all you need to do is flash that backup and your set. did you make a backup? if not, you'll need to find another path to apply a system update.

looks like the OTA is now available, so keep checking for the OTA and you should be able to udpate your X.

hey bald steve --
if you are using safari, go to preferences > select the general tab > uncheck the "open 'safe' files after downloading" radio button; this will prevent safari from automatically unzipping the download.

i'm not sure about firefox/opera/chrome. let us know if that doesn't work!
HTH!
cheers

Ahhhhh, thanks! I'm on Safari, so I'll try this later.

928's return-to-stock-ota-odexed did the right thing in getting me back to stock in that all bloat was there and the system build number is VZW, but the weird part is that after I go through the Android setup it kicks me right into ADW, which installed with RubiX (I"m an LPP guy and have never even used it). I'm doing full data/cache wipes, format system, mount/system installs, too. Anyway, I just flashed my nandroid and deleted ADW in Root Explorer, so hopefully that will correct this.
