Droid Bionic Not Released Before Tiered Data Plans!

Let me give you an example:

I have an OG Droid with unlimited 3G Data. My contract is up on Nov. 7th 2011. I am going to upgrade to the Bionic on August 11th (just an example people dont freak out), Since my contract is not up yet, I am just "UPGRADING" my Device, I will still be "Grandfathered" in to unlimited Data. And that unlimited Data will include 4G even though I currently have a 3G phone.

Does this make sense?

You have unlimited data for a 3G plan, not 4G. After 7/7/11, 3G and 4G are no longer exchangeable like they once were before.

3G vs. 4G data:
There is no difference between 4G and 3G data plans.

All of the new tiers will fall in at the same price and do
not care if you are using a 3G or 4G device.

This is the same for current customers with unlimited
data plans. You will see no change.

So it doesnt matter what phone you have. Its 4g + 3g in one plan.

I've spoken to multiple Verizon reps and they have all said it doesn't make a difference if the phone is 3G or 4G, as long as you have unlimited data before 7/7 you are good to go.

They are correct in saying you may keep your unlimited data for your 3G or 4G plan, but Verizon states you may only keep unlimited without changing your plan. Going from 3G to 4G requires a new plan, thus you may no longer keep your unlimited data since that wasn't the plan you originally had before 7/7/11.

 I'm officially marking this one up as a loss. Actual sheets form Verizon can be found at the link I provided to you earlier. Droid Life Highlights all of the same information on the same link and spells it out very clearly so there is NO confusion about the difference in 3G or 4G after the 7/11 date as long as you are upgrading. I thought my example was pretty clear... So anyway.... :-X

Just No... NO, NO, No no noo...

As far as Tiered data is concerned: 3G vs. 4G Same Plan, Same Pricing.
As far as Unlimited Data is concerned: 3G vs. 4G Same Plan, Same Pricing and as long as you are already locked in an unlimited plan before 7/7, you can still upgrade your 3G phone to a 4G phone and have unlimited.

Okay I promise that was my last post on this matter... Seriously.

Only thing required going from 3g to 4g is a sim card..... Get a unlimited plan before 7/7 people 3g or 4g and your nxt upgrade will have unlimited

3G and 4G may have the same pricing, but they are not the same plan. Look, here are Verizon's plans are they are boldly not considered all being the same plan. Verizon Wireless - Mobile Broadband - Plans
"4G Mobile Broadband Plans available on 4G Mobile Broadband devices only." - You can't have a 4G unlimited plan when you have a 3G unlimited plan. They are not the same.

Also, directly from the link you sent me:

Just as we reported yesterday, existing customers get to keep their current data plans. No length of time has been set for this, but as of now, it’s “forever.”
Current customers will also keep their unlimited data plans after renewing contracts and upgrading phones after July 7.
As long as you lock into an unlimited $29.99 data plan (hence, this doesn't include all the data plans, just the one you're signed up for) before July 7, you get to keep it for the foreseeable future.

You may be an unlimited data plan in 3G or 4G right now, but they are not the same plan.

Yes! You are correct, but there is 1 huge difference. You are looking at Mobile Broadband, Not Mobile Phones my friend.

This means, and is clearly addressed in several places including the training sheets from VZW that if you have unlimited 3G now, and upgrade to a 4G phone after 7/7 that you still keep unlimited data.

I know it sounds to good to be true, but i promise if you do the research from Droid Life and read all of the leaks from Verizon that you will see that what we all keep telling you is the truth! We are just trying to help you out, trust me if this wasn't true there would be a LOT of people panicking right now and buying 4G phones.

As long as you lock into an unlimited $29.99 data plan (you either have a 3G or 4G unlimited data plan, you can not have both. If you change plans after 7/7/11, you will be affected by the new tiered prices) before July 7, you get to keep it for the foreseeable future.

Its so blatant and yet, you still don't see it.

Technically having a 4G phone and being able to switch to 3G in certain non 4G areas will still give the user unlimited pertaining to whichever area they are in at the time. So you can have both unlimited

So there is one plan? If so, how about you click on the pretty pictures and see that Verizon states "plans", with a "s".

EXISTING CUSTOMERS- That have our $29.99 unlimited data plan WILL BE GRANDFATHERED IN, they will keep their unlimited plan after 7/7/11

EXISTING CUSTOMERS- That current have the unlimited data WILL BE ABLE TO UPGRADE AND KEEP the unlimited data feature (No known end date on this as of this moment)

There is no difference between 3G unlimited and 4G unlimited, its the exact same. There are not 2 different plans. 3G unlimited now, will get you grandfathered even when you upgrade to 4G unlimited later.

But on Aug 1 bionic drops you go it and activate the sim for 4g ie that will constitute a plan change so your sol go buy charge then sell it for.bionic and transfer the sim to bionic and no worries.

if you have a 3G phone you have unlimited data plan with a 3G phone

4G phone you have unlimited data plan with a 4G phone.

You want to get technical yes they are two different data plans based on the user's phone catering to them based on their phones (lte or 3g) with no limit.

But again if you have a 4G phone you are capable of going from 4G data to 3G data in some areas so you can recieve unlimited for both hence meaning both unlimited data plans aren't that much different.

Btw I had a thunderbolt with unlimited data and im back on a droid x. Both times on my bill it read "unlimited data 29.99) didn't state 4G or not.....
