Droid Bionic Not Released Before Tiered Data Plans!

There is no difference between 3G unlimited and 4G unlimited, its the exact same. There are not 2 different plans. 3G unlimited now, will get you grandfathered even when you upgrade to 4G unlimited later.

You're going in circles. 3G and 4G can not be the same, as they are two separate and different services and plans. If they were, there would be one plan, not plans. You're now wasting my time.

Ok so let me get this straight. So I have unlimited 3G backwards compatable to 4G but 3G is unlimited along with 4G with 3G and 4G. 2 of the same plans. Meaning 3G along with 4G and 3G I should be ok if I go 4G but opt for 3G tiered plans effective July 7. So my question is will I be affected? Or do I have to go 4G with 3G to be grandfathered under 4G but not 3G because 4G?

3G vs. 4G data:

There is no difference between 4G and 3G data plans. All of the new tiers will fall in at the same price and do not care if you are using a 3G or 4G device.
This is the same for current customers with unlimited data plans. You will see no change.

Everything good? While tiers were not something that many of us ever wanted to see, you’ve got to give Verizon at least a little props for allowing their existing customers to keep everything they’ve got for the time being – that includes upgrades and renewals after July 7

There is no difference in plans, 3G or 4G is the same. Upgrading will not constitute a new plan, even if you are switching from 3G to 4G... I am tired of posting on this matter, If you don't believe the information that has been provided then please go buy a 4G phone now. :-X

They are correct in saying you may keep your unlimited data for your 3G or 4G plan, but Verizon states you may only keep unlimited without changing your plan. Going from 3G to 4G requires a new plan, thus you may no longer keep your unlimited data since that wasn't the plan you originally had before 7/7/11.
You are wrong. It is not a difference of opinion.

There is tons of information supporting my theory and all speculation for yours. I guess this will only be settled when 7/7/11 comes by. And frankly, I'm getting tired of typing.

Correct, they are different concepts; however, all signs indicate that for purposes of determining whether someone's going to be grandfathered in, it appears that Verizon isn't differentiating between the two and is treating them as the same plan.

Bottom line, based on my understanding of things: If you have unlimited 3G now, you can upgrade to 4G or sidegrade to another 3G phone now or in the near future and retain your benefits.

That said, I'm still probably going to pull the trigger on a Charge within the next week or so, because Verizon loves to tell stories. :)

I have no idea what you're talking about so here's a response I find would be appropriate.

This is my last post on this subject, as I'm getting tired of this.

If you read the actual leaked shots of Verizon's tiered pricing, Verizon no where guarantees switching plans from 3G to 4G will allow you to keep unlimited. They only guarantee unlimited on your current plan.

They are not different. Remember when you called me unethical for returning my Charge. I went from a Droid X to the Charge then back. Nothing changed and will not after the seventh.

I'm not taking a chance I'm buying a charge and not risking it. I was told bye vzw u activate the SIM. card that will constitute a plan change due to the way the phone is activated.

I was going to wait for the Bionic too but as soon as the delayed it I got worried. I did not like the TB as to it's poor battery life and other issues.

I feared that VZ sending the Bionic back to Motorola would only cause Motorola to rush the Bionic to market with flaws that could be a year before they get around to doing an update that usually only address a few issues (I've been that root before with BB's).

So I had to get away from BB anyway because I was totally fed up with paying $29.95 a month and could not browse or read stuff on the web with their latest OS6 update.

So I picked up the Charge last week because of the 4- 4G choices VZ had, I liked the thin and light form factor of the Charge, it's brilliant Amoled screen and two cameras with an 8 mp rear facing the rear. I don't know really how much more I would need in another device. Sure a dual core processor in the Bionic might be nice but who knows how much battery it's going to draw on the 4G network. That's probably why VZ sent it back to Motorola because it was probably another power hog (just my guess).

I did not know of the July date eliminating the unlimited plans at the time. VZ allowed me to upgrade 6 months early into my 2 year contract but I still paid $299 for the Charge. Still to get away from BB I would have paid most any price to upgrade.

Don't be afraid of buying the Charge. It's a SUPER device (there is no perfect device anyway) I even thought of waiting for an 4G iphone but notice how VZ won't bring out the Bionic or a 4G iphone before they do away with unlimited data (they already did away with new every two).

And as others have said already . . . They bring Netflix apps (hopefully soon to the Charge too) to new devices and then cap your data.

I'm really ecstatic with this Charge so far and I have not used it on a 4G network yet. It might turn out to use a lot more battery, but for now I don't care about the Bionic or a 4G iphone anymore.

Thanks for update on the charge. What makes me mad on bionic is no tegra dual core.

That is false.Call again and I bet you'll get a different answer.

OMG This is awful. I'm due for an upgrade. If I wait AFTER the 7th, can I be grandfathered in???

Yes as long as you have a current smartphone with a data plan you will

Yes, I have my Blackberry Storm. I'm waiting on the Bionic and wanted to make sure I WILL be grandfathered in and not have to worry about the Tier crap.
