Droid Turbo: Battery Life

Finally some good numbers starting to come through. Did that last update maybe make some changes?

I'm still on the OEM software and the phone seems to be doing fine, comparable to what's being reported here, though I did follow a lot of the advice here to optimize efficiency.

Regarding the battery itself, I found this video to be interesting, in that the reviewer discussed, and showed, the battery of the Droid versus that of the Maxx.

It appears, perhaps, that the battery vendor has improved the energy output and put it into a smaller package, if the reviewer's observations are correct. In any event, an interesting look at the inside of this unit.

When the battery lasts so long it's hard to do comprehensive testing on it .

Here's a picture of some interim numbers

Coming from the Droid Maxx, I don't see much if any improvement in battery life.

16 hours with 3 hours screen time, not impressed at all. Btw 8 of those hours I was asleep with everything cut off. Been a week and not getting any better. I do use a Moto 360 but have talked to others who get much better battery life than me with the 360. No lie right now the 360 has a longer charge than the turbo. Any advice would be much appreciated. I'm far from a noobie but just can't figure out the issue here

Something was holding your phone awake. In the gsam app it says 3:50 of being held awake but only 2:38 of screen time. If u look at my gsam shot the difference in my screen time and being held awake time is only 25min.

Im assuming thats the 360 but i was getting similar battery results prior to having the 360. When i take my phone off the charger today after work i'll disconnect 360 and do a test run w/o to determine if thats the culprit.

So I figured I would show my battery stats to get some advice. I'm on day 2 with my device and I have only done one complete charge. Last night, I went to bed with 45% battery left and woke up with only 28% left. I was hoping for more but please, let me know if I am doing something wrong.

I use the feature built into the phone that keeps the phone quiet at night. Other than that, I try and shut everything down when I am done with it.

for those of you getting 5+ hours screen time and use gsam.. can you open your gsam apps readout and post a picture.. I'm only getting 4ish hours of screen time but all 4 hours are on chrome surfing the web.

I posted way back (a week ago!) and was pretty happy with battery life. A week later and I am still happy :)

I'm coming from a RAZR M that was screwed up by KitKat. Prior to KitKat, my M would just make it through when I had a long day (typically Wednesday) with about 20% left. After KitKat, the only way to survive a Wednesday (or similar day) was to find some time to charge it in the middle of the day. Yesterday, I had a typical Wednesday and took screen shots before I plugged in when I went to sleep.

I didn't really do ANY battery management. A good chunk of my day is in low signal (I have an awesome 5-bar at home, but you can see I wasn't there much). I even played around with Slacker radio for about 45 minutes in a poor signal area w/o WiFi available. I keep WiFi on all day - but only had it available during the 6 hrs at my office and at home. I'm syncing my office email (IMAP) and 3 gmail accounts.

To compare, here is the info from my poor M from 2 weeks ago:

For that day, I was being very careful & trying to conserve as much battery as I could. Needless so say, I'm thrilled with how the Droid Turbo is working out!

According to GSam, I'm averaging 19 hours/battery life, with 8 1/2 hours active and 5 hours screen time. This is with all bloat disabled, wifi usually on, and a not-seemingly terrible signal area. Just doesn't seem like my battery is getting nearly the time that others are. Between this, my back capacatative button not working at times, and the fraying of the nylon, I think I'm gonna swap it for another of the same model. Hopefully!

I watched that video the other day. It looks like the Turbo battery is slightly longer and wider than the Maxx battery. Relevant portion is at 9:15 in the video timeline.

Clearly by the attached Wakelocks are my problem. I seem to have way more (although they are very short times) than anyone else posting on here. Anything that appears longer was either screen on or audio being listened to. Facebook, Twitter, and all other social networking refreshing is turned off. Still struggling to comprehend what is wake locking so much!?! Any guesses?

Go to Google setting / android device manager and see if remotely locate this device is enabled. I have found that to be a hog.

This is my second full charge usage from my Turbo. Not too shabby. Probably would have been better had I not left Wifi on during an hour walk around the neighborhood. Other than that, I am happy. This was on Wifi for about 80% of the time.

Something is draining my battery and quick. Any help or suggestions?

to start turn off location services and go to Google settings / android device manager and turn off remotely locate this device. See how that works out.

Where exactly is that setting? As an update, the phone doesn't wakelock in airplane mode, but does when I have "account syc" off.
