Easy Root for Bionic Stock 4.1.2 (Jelly Bean)

Worked here just fine. The only thing that got me was the MYGROUP in all caps. My fault for not reading the instructions closely enough. I actually had to use it about 5 times because I was trying to flash my Bionic to cricket, screwed it up a few times and had to factory reset a few times. Funny thing was when I did the factory reset before the successful flash I'd lose root. After it was successfully flashed to Cricket I had to do a factory reset and the root held. Thanks for the easiest root ever, I think this was even easier than the old GingerBreak exploit I used on my last phone, an Optimus C.

Worked great!! After about 45 tries (my fault of course). Just make sure your usb drivers are installed correctly and BAM! Thanks for all the hard work devs

Thanks. Great exploit. Definitely worked. I received the invalid IP but you basically need to restart phone and access point to get them connected to the router.

After rooting the phone, what's the best ROM to get for the droid bionic and also will it let me make a snap shot of my orginal image if I ever have to take it back to the store?

I'm having trouble with this one. The procedure appears to go well, even the the vibrating reboot followed by the reboot after cleanup, but the Superuser app says "su binary need to be updated" and root checker says "no access".

I have a certain situation and need to confirm some requirements. I have a network with a router but I don't have an internet connect on this network. It didn't know if this process downloads anything on the internet.

Is there a trick to pressing one of the keys at the correct time? I've tried 3 times now and by the time I see the message prompting me to press the power/vol up/vol down key the phone is already re-booting. How the heck did you guys get the key pressed in time? Must be my 60 year old reflexes, not quite as spry as they used to be! :'(

Had virtualbox on my laptop so i figured I try again. every thing looks good and the phone jumps through all the hoops but still no root access.

Has anyone rooted their bionic recently with this method? I tried twice, and got the same msg/info both times:
RootScreenshot1.png
....and my phone still isn't rooted :(
any help or tips are greatly appreciated!!
Thanks.

Open virtual box, highlight the "Linux Minimal" VM. Click settings, click network, click advanced, and select a different adapter type. Hopefully there will be one or more that are compatible with your physical hardware. (I think that's what I had to do...)
Also, mine will sometime stop because of a missing network adapter. But it will usually work on the second or third try.

does my Bionic have to be in fastboot mode or powered up normal.... since my last system update on it i no longer have the "charge only" option when i plug it in either.

Finally! Success! I didn't doubt the method, but I wonder why it didn't work for me. After multiple failures using the factory wipe so the procedure could root a fresh phone I finally ran RSDLite5.7 and through the fastboot menu replace the install image with cdma_targa_9.8.2O-72_VZW-22_cfc.xml.zip. After doing that the root procedure worked the first time.
Thanks for this one.

"powered up normal" Fully booted and ready to make calls.
