Re: Switching to sgsII when it comes out
Project much? You have some anger issues you need to iron out if you got all that from my comments. I stated fact about the US versions of SGS2, nothing to do with the Evo 3D or your precious opinion on the 3D the other HTC products you've owned. Can you point to the specific instances where your opinion on HTC products was disrespected? Nope, because I didn't mention it. I simply stated that the US versions of the SGS2 don't have 6 months of tried and tested confirmation of quality. That's 100% accurate regardless of the same parts inside each version. The "warm and fuzzy" comment goes to your comfort and confidence in a product, which is based on a different product. Nothing to do with invalidating your opinion. In fact, I didn't even read through your chapter on why HTC is the devil.
I've owned an Android device for a little over a month. I don't think that gets me fanboy (or troll for that matter) status yet just based on time put in to date. Lol...kid....you're funny. I myself chose to not wait for the SGS2 based solely on the UI. I personally don't find it attractive like sense. But that's MY opinion and you are welcome to have the opposite view.
See, this is my problem with you. Instead of making points and rebutting them, you keep using ad hominem because you don't have anything of substance to say. Instead of saying why you agree/disagree, you attack my character as a means to invalidate my opinion rather than making reasonable counter points. Looks more like you're the one stifling conversation, not me. All I wanted to do was explain my frustrations with this phone and HTC for reasons why I switch, and you attack my character and then accuse ME of stifling conversation? LOL.
In your first response, you summarized my reasons for switching phones as me being emotional or "warm and fuzzy". In your second response, you call my statements "bullcrap". In your third response, you attribute to me anger problems. None of these three responses I listed have anything to do with phones or android, they are just with you having a problem with me and attacking me rather than promoting a conversation about PHONES. That's why I'm pissed. At the very least, I appreciated your last few sentences in your last post since it was actually constructive.
And yeah, you can be a fanboy long before you ever even actually own the device. There are Apple fanboys who defend the precious image of Apple long before they even own a single Apple product. Duration of ownership =/= level of fanboyism. And if you're going around making passive-aggressive, sarcastic, ad hominem attacks on people in a PHONE forum of all places, then yes that makes you a troll. Fact is, instead of just whining about the phone and saying that it sucks like so many others do, I actually gave reasons why I was unhappy with it. And they're valid reasons. Too bad by your own admission, you skipped that part and didn't even read it. If you didn't read it, why the hell are you responding?
Back to PHONES, had you actually read my "chapter on why HTC is the devil", maybe you would've empathized when you've been with a company who has consistently cut corners for the 2 years and 4 devices you've had with them, you have every right to throw in the towel and say you've at least tried to enjoy their products and that it's time for something new. As far as the "tried and tested" remark, it was for the SGS2 brand, not the SPECIFIC device I am looking to switch to. And regardless of how insignificantly different the overseas version of the SGS2 is in comparison to the US one (since the only difference is CDMA radios, WIMAX and form factor), the SGSII has won and earned many high ratings, excellent reviews, etc, and the minor differences between the US and overseas versions aren't going to dramatically different. Therefore, I expect the phone to be just as good, if not better thanks to the additional features like the notification light and slightly larger screen (my preference) that the original SGS2 doesn't have.
The Evo 3D got consistently bad reviews before the phone came out, and I along with many others defended this phone to the death ignoring the warning signs that were foretold to us of the device. So this time, I'm going to go by the reviews, benchmarks, and video and photo samples. If the E4GT is anywhere near the build quality, benchmarks, camera quality, and screen quality of it's overseas counterpart, I think I will be happy for a little while.
Yes, the UI isn't as attractive as Sense, I agree. But Touchwiz does have some benefits over Sense, like resizeable widgets, a cleaner menu to add widgets, no carousel, and a slider to quickly move between homescreens and "app pages" in the drawer. I find the sliders way more practical to move quickly between homescreens than that damn carousel effect on Sense.
Don't get me wrong, despite my ranting, I think the Evo 3D is a great device, but it didn't live up to the hype and expectations I had for it. Maybe it's just not for me anymore. If you own one, that's great, I don't really care since it's your phone and you're the one whose going to be happy/disappointed with it.
