Evo 4G update to Froyo OFFICIAL August 3rd (OLD)

At the screen with blue type, where you select "apply sdcard:update.zip", at the bottom of the screen I get text, in yellow, that says: E: can't open /cache/recovery/command

Then it errors out and I can't install. Any ideas?

Seeing as this is not the official update will we be able to update on Tuesday and overwrite this with the official release with no problems?

My assumption based on experiences with other systems is that if it doesn't recognize your current version as the version it wants you to have, it will attempt to put the newer version on your device. Does that make sense?

The directions below were PERFECT. It literally just finished as I saw your post. Can't get any better directions than this...

Thank you. I'm a long time educator/manager/business owner (and therefore, trainer) so sometimes you have to use the baby-step method, but it leaves room for very few unanswered questions or confusion. :)

This is my thinking but more times than not ASSUME ends up me looking like an @$$......

Then you read how some people are having issues and others are not.. Makes you question if it's REALLY worth being 2 - 3 days ahead?????

It won't do anything else? It seems like mine had a couple of errors, but I let it do it's thing...

same here it crashes both dolphin and regular

I had 10.1 installed previously from the developers forums... Not sure how to fix this :(

glad im not the only one! hopefully if more people have this issue a fix will be discovered quicker...

I'm downloading it directly to my phone could that be the problem?

I downloaded directly to my phone without a problem.

Had to rename it and move it to the SD card root directory using ES File manager, but the install went off without a hitch.
