Evo 4G update to Froyo OFFICIAL August 3rd (OLD)

This is my thinking but more times than not ASSUME ends up me looking like an @$$......

Then you read how some people are having issues and others are not.. Makes you question if it's REALLY worth being 2 - 3 days ahead?????

It's not a normal day if I don't make myself look like an a$$ at least once :)
Yeah, I'm not usually a bandwagon gal, but I had a few extra hours tonight... yes, Friday night and I'm having FroYo. :D

I think those having issues are those who have tweaked - - Just my opinion!

My assumption based on experiences with other systems is that if it doesn't recognize your current version as the version it wants you to have, it will attempt to put the newer version on your device. Does that make sense?

That is correct.

At the screen with blue type, where you select "apply sdcard:update.zip", at the bottom of the screen I get text, in yellow, that says: E: can't open /cache/recovery/command

Then it errors out and I can't install. Any ideas?

I had the same issue. Rename the file to update.zip, If your file name looks like this OTA_Supersonic_3.26.651.3-1.47.651.1_releaseu2cqjc2e98n4o6xn.zip . If not just rename it to update.

That worked for me anyway.

On a separate note, where is the pinch and peek feature of the gallery? Anyone find that yet? Has anyone posted a list of updated features and checked them off yet to see what sense did not allow to come though (or is hiding)

Did you have flash 10.1 running on 2.1 prior to updating? I was running flash 10.1, however I deleted it prior to the upgrade. I figured it could potentially cause a problem. I just installed 2.2 with the .3 build and flash is working great. Just a thought..

yes i did have it installed prior to the upgrade. :/ not sure what to do now

I went and deleted user data... Hoping this fixes it :D

SO, all in all is it worth getting it 3 days early for those of you that already have it?

OR should us newbs just not bother with it and wait 3 days?

P.S. i downloaded the update, just not sure if i want to do it.

I just noticed that in the app sharing app, paid apps are listed there.

Can you really share paid apps?

Guys and Gals,

Based on HTC pulling the update, and some of the issues I'm seeing reported in previous posts, I would strongly encourage everyone to wait a few more days until the OTA update comes out. There appears to be enough issues in this build to make it not worth the effort.

And one last time... do not post asking for the file. If you really want it, look back a few pages.

Some of you people need to take a moment to read through this thread before you ask the same question that's been asked 5 times before you. Use the search feature, or just read through. You may learn new things :)

I haven't noticed any adverse effects, so if you have it, might as well install it. And it's 5 days, not 3. ;)

While not technically the final version, I doubt anything is going to change on Monday or Tuesday before they release it. The only drawback is that if you have any problems, you probably can't get support for it from Sprint or HTC.

When I plug my phone in to the computer there isn't a folder that says SD card or anything. Where do I put it? Thanks
