Evo HDMI out mirroring?

I haven't been sent the apk yet :( but you should definitely try psx4droid and play some old school playstation games. try accessing youtube through your browser and stream 720p (gonna need overclocking). try yahoo messenger video chat for video chat (the quality is better than with tango imho). you could try estrongs file explorer to access movies in shared windows directories on your network (if you have a desktop and want to stream movies to any other tv in your house). Also, if you can, you should try connecting a bluetooth mouse to your evo, and using a remote desktop application (RDP remote desktop is pretty good) to run a virtual workstation from anywhere!!!

these are just a few of the ideas i have been wanting to try out. give them a shot and let me know how they work for you.

Hardware acceleration basically means that the programmer used a modified kernel to access the hardware, and make it do things it was not designed to do out of the box. The kernel is what controls most of the hardware on the phone.

The advantage is that the app can do a lot more than it can as a program alone. If HTC had planned on us using the HDMI port this way, then they probably would have had the hardware programmed correctly in the first place. But because they didn't we have to re-program it.

The early videos, where the display was not full screen. That will work on any Evo. You don't have to be rooted, or modified in any way. But to get full screen, and faster frame rates, you need to root the phone and install a modified kernel. It's not as difficult as it sounds, but may not be for everyone.

Ok thanks Brad. So thats sucks that Htc didnt do this from the start . So theres no way to get full screen without Root. For sure that Obremas wont be making this possible Cuz I can root but installing a kernal I dont even know where to start.

It is possible, software mode will get this and new features but possibly after the first release. This is because real mirroring is really hardware mode and it is the priority feature.

Ok thats great news yeah thats what I figured just wanted to make sure. So basically youre saying that software mode will have these cababipities once the HDMI App is officially on the market in the two weeks that Obremas was predicting. Another question I was thinking that would be the next generation of HDMI amazingness is it possible to have full HDMI through Wifi or Bluetooth through Dlna or not at all a possibility.

Hmmmmm.....so you need a converter? Just getting and HDMI-to-RCA...

I think only HDMI would work with DVI or another form of hi-def signal connected directly...RCA, component video are no go.

-HDMI & DVI are both digital sources
-VGA (blue trapezoid connector), RCA(red, yellow, and white), component (green, blue, red) are all analogue sources

to go from digital to analogue or vice versa you need "converter" and not just a cable that has hdmi on 1 end and RCA on the other.

Here are some examples of types of converters
HDMI to component: Amazon.com: HDMI to 5 RCA component AV Converter: Electronics

HDMI to RCA: HDMI to 3RCA AV/Composite S-video Converter for PS3 DVD - eBay (item 190469938705 end time Mar-18-11 02:25:04 PDT)

the issue with these is that they are the cheaper versions of this sort of converter and they dont "scale". scaling will resize the resolution of the signal as it comes in and out of the converter. I thought this was going to be an issue because essentially if you have a certain resolution (720p) going into the converter, you would be getting 720p coming out of it. Apparently in the program orrebmas has developed, the user can set the output resolution of the evo, thus making any of these converters listed above a viable option for an HDMI to analogue solution.

i hope that helped :)

nope a hdmi to rca should work just fine as long as you can adjust the output at the source, you cant output more than 480 to a vehicle display. otherwise any decent modulator will work. i have a modulated setup in my truck and i already used my evo before this app to watch jetflicks and droidtv all the time waiting for customers

heres the cable Amazon.com: HDMI to 3 RCA + VGA Cable M/M 1.8ft/6ft: Electronics

the other cable in the post above is a rgb not a regular rca. there is a difference.
Most people confuse rca with the type of signal its not its just the connector i have full rca cables that are much better quality than a hdmi and full 180p.
Its the source not the cable that needs to be 480, a cable isnt digital or analog its the signal you feed it thats either or.

Funny u said that I already ordered it to hook it up in my car. Just need to get a car adapter that is 5v 1w. At least for the one I bought

as long as your source is 480 you should be fine. they say you can set the resolution with the app so u shouldnt need a powered converter just the proper cable. the only time you would need a converter is if you were trying to downscale a 720/1080 signal to 480.

Wow I cant believe your were able to find that cable I was going crazy looking for weeks trying to find that cable setup. Than I read about the converter and figured I would go that way but this is even better cheaper and less of mission to setup. Thats going to be amazing because this means you connect it to any tv even if it doesnt have HDMI port Thanks for info Fitteck.

Glad i could help, ive been following this thread hoping to get a chance to help out, I do home theater and this little app is gonna be an awesome tool for me!
you would be surprised how many people have me come do their theater setup and then have not one dvd around to test it.
i cant wait to see what this lil app and rockplayer can do together with a good movie encode!

Silly Question:
by "over hdmi" do you mean the HDMI to RCA cable ?

thanks!![/QUOTE
Both it will work strait over hdmi to your tv and with the hdmi to rca cable, thats what i use in my truck.

"this means you connect it to any tv even if it doesnt have HDMI port"

Well not really. any 480p tv yes,for an lcd thats its lowest resolution(thats what most a/v car displays are). most older tube tvs wouldnt work without a modulator
