Finally caught up! 4.2.2 (JDQ39)

Tried to flash the zip in the latest twrp got error 7. Even with doing an adb side load any help?

I haven't been able to flash this onto my device yet. I downloaded the SDK directly from Google and the "adb sideload" command isn't present. Anyone else having the same issue? Is there an updated SDK version that contains it?

I get the android with the red triangle when I try to go into recovery. I think I may know what happened. When I flashed 4.2.2, I said "no" to I believe deleting the stock recovery and probably should have said "yes."

Where should I keep them, on the SD card?

Yes, SDcard, and you're correct. You need to reflash a recovery.

Have you updated your custom recovery? I flashed with TWRP in traffic this morning, so I can confirm it works :).

I need to root to reflash a recovery, correct?

I am trying to reroot using your guide, but I keep getting "waiting for device" and I have installed every Samsung and Google driver known to man including letting Win7 find them for me. :'(

I have little experience with Win7, so I can't really troubleshoot you.

To flash a recovery, you don't need root, you need to be unlocked. Recovery is an "image"--it has nothing to do with root permissions. As long as you're unlocked you can flash a recovery using fastboot or one of those one click tools. Then boot into the recovery, adb push the zip (or, download it prior to using fastboot), flash it, and boom. All done :).

I just updated twrp before I tried it. Also flashed back the stock kernel. Still status 7

I've had this issue before trying to mess with the Verizon GNex. I had to go into the Windows Device Manager and uninstall the device making sure to check the box to delete the device drivers. Then unplug the phone, restart the computer, reinstall the official Samsung Galaxy Nexus drivers, then hook up the phone. Beyond that, perhaps it's an issue with your cord/ports.

Project Elite and CM10.1 are both on 4.2.2 also for the last few weeks, love the feature set. Not exactly stock, but close enough (a few extra options, but nothing intrusive in either).

2 questions...
can this be flashed to a unlocked and rooted phone with no issues? also does blue tooth work? any issues yet?

Locked, not rooted, using stock recovery, update file in /sdcard and renamed update.zip...load file from USB shows me nothing.

Gotta unlock? Use ADB side load? Novice, I know...

I'm getting an error 7 when I attempt to flash this in CWM. I have CWM 6.0.2.3.

My understanding is that I should be able to install this over 4.1.1 without wiping if I'm running stock. Is that correct? Anyone else getting this error?

Are you flashing the whole shebang or just the radios?

So I've done some searching around and found out that I'm suppose to update the SDK. They are now updated to 1.0.31 and I am still unable to see the "adb sideload" command. I am trying on both Win7 and on a Mac. I am able to get to recovery and select the option to install update through adb, but that's where it comes to a complete stop for me. I keep getting prompted with 'cannot read sideload'. Help anyone???????

*Update*: After reinstalling the drivers using the ToolKit recommended, I was able to successfully flash the update through the stock recovery! :D

I flashed the zip on my unlocked and rooted Gnex. Have you guys noticed that vibrate is different? The 2 pulses are now longer than on 4.1.1. I've noticed this when getting a text or email.
