Finally, Gingerbread for All DInc Owners! Part 2! Update's avail!

Re: Finally, Gingerbread for All DInc Owners! Part 2! Update's av

hi guys! noob question O:-)

Has anyone running the leaked RUU (4.06.605.02) got the update notification to install the updated one?
Not a noob question at all! I got the notification this morning and the install ran fine. I was worried that it would see that I already had gingergread and not work. I also still had update.zip in the root directory from unsuccessfully trying to manually update to .3. As far as I can tell everything went smotthly, I didn't lose anything and I verified that I do have .3.

Took my Dinc off the charger, hit the power button to light up the screen BAM - Gingerbread - HARD. I really feel this phone was a great choice, July 2010, when i bought it. I mean, this thing hit EOL like 6 months ago... My buddy i work with has a Fascinate...newer and running 2.2

still no OTA notification...

I ran CM6 for a while. Back to unrooted stock (basically reinstalled the factory ROM). Did I miss anything and perhaps there is still something non-stock that verizon can see and as a result I will not get the pushed OTA?

I got Version 2.3.4 Software Version 4.06.605.3 earlier this morning. If this is the update everyone is talking about, it completely JACKED up my downloaded apps. I've tried resetting my phone, rebooting and nothing is working. I'm getting all kinds of error messages and the Android Market isn't working right. I turned on my phone this morning and there was a message about a system update and I accepted the update. I wish I could undo the damn thing! PISSED!!!!!

You need to move all your apps to the phone off the SD card. (unmount the SD card and then remount. All app's on the sd card should appear to allow you to move them.)

Then do a powerdown and battery pull.

Then power up and be sure all the apps are there and then move them back to the SD card.

Then do a powerdown and battery pull.

Power on and they should all be there (might take sometime for them to show on this first boot).

This solved it for me.... No downloading of missing app's (cause they were there, the phone just didn't mount the SD card properly).

I have the update, does anyone know how to put the phone on vibrate? They removed the vibrate and silent mode options from the menu that pops up when you long press the power button. I used that like... all the time. Why did they remove it?

I never used that feature. When I wanted to go to vibrate I just held the volume down button until it went to vibrate mode.

Does tethering via PDANet still work after the update? I use that quite a bit lately.

Here is my question...
With all the grief that this update seems to be causing, do you think there is a chance that the update will get pulled or patched? I haven't gotten it pushed to my phone yet, but it makes you almost reluctant to get the update if it's going to bork my phone.

I received the update yesterday didn't get a chance to update, today the update is gone

same here. FYI those that have been plagued by the bluetooth automobile compatibility issues from day one on the stock froyo build, this gingerbread setup has addressed it with a new stack! No more bluetooth issues for me and my infiniti....

Re: Finally, Gingerbread for All DInc Owners! Part 2! Update's av

I currently have a rooted 2.2 Droid Incredible phone. Will I still be notified of the OTA update, or because it's rooted will I have to unroot first?

Re: Finally, Gingerbread for All DInc Owners! Part 2! Update's av

If you are rooted, there is a Sept 2011 OTA rooted update you should use instead. There is a thread in the ROM's and Hacks section.

Yea I used the silent mode all the time......if I'm going to a meeting or going to bed I always set the mode to silent. Was so easy to set and now it just sucks not having the option easily available.

Using the widget that I missed the first time around helps, but adds extra time to flip to a screen and choose the option. Don't have room on my main home screen to put the widget.

Miss the original way! :'(
