FINALLY!!! My 3G Airave is working with my EVO

My take-away after talking with the Sprint Rep is that making calls while connected to your Airave 2.0 device would ALWAYS deduct the minutes from your anytime minutes, regardless of whether the call was made during nights/weekends/etc.

Did anyone else hear this, or can anyone who currently has the new Airave hooked up confirm the contrary?

This is true unless you pay for the $20 a month (for multiple lines) and then the calls originated from the airave are unlimited.

got my from Sprint, just called i said my friend ( Your guys ) received a Airave to improve 3g coverage at home for free. I said i want to improve my 3g at home also since i drop calls here and there. She transferred me i repeated the something above she said sure. Is free for the first 2 year there after is 4.99 with no contract.

Without the Airrave plan that gives you unlimited calling on the airrave it just deducts from your minutes as if you were on a regular tower. Any mobile anytime and unlimited nights and weekends still counts. And having a 3G one would be awesome b/c our phones like hunting down a 3G tower instead of 1x/rtt meaning that even though our calls are still routed through a strong signal, the phone still burns through battery to find that 3G tower instead. Turning on WIFI does remedy this, however, if im not actively using the web or downloading something I would rather just leave WIFI off and use the cell connection.

Airave is an excellent option for me. I live in nyc on an 1th flr apt where 3g is just not an option. Having this airave is excellent for the $0.00 price :)

Can't use some of the sprint products with WiFi!

Yeah, that one looks huge! I'll stick w/ my non-3g version and just use wifi...

John

Just got mine for free. I would never keep the old technology because it looks better. I have 5 bars all the time for both EVDO and calling where with the old air rave could only get about 3 bars.

The airave has NO EFFECT on your calling plan; nights and weekends are free, just like you made the calls from down the block; same thing if you have free mobile to mobile; you could talk for a thousand minutes from your cell phone using the airave, to another mobile user for free, just like you were making the calls from outside of your house.
If you dont buy the $20.00 per month package, the airave is nothing more than a tower replacement for you to use in your house..its just that simple..

With the airave you guys still have to pay for tax and other fees right?

Correct. After I returned my 'free' Airave, my monthly bill went down by ~$1.60(~$.30 less in taxes and ~$1.30 less in Sprint's fees). I had only one phone the Airave on my account. I noted a similar increase on my bill when I received the Airave last year.
