Fingerprint Scanner Not Working Well

I am not removing a screen protector on a $1000 device. That's just stupid.

You watch flossy carters video on the S10e and it’s clearly not a screen protector in the traditional sense of the word. He shows how flimsy it is.

After removing the protective film from the front screen and registering my right thumb on two separate prints, I am getting good success with the fps

No offense, but how old are you? The protector that comes with it is what screen protectors were before glass protectors became a thing. I had similar protectors up until, oh, the Galaxy S5

Some people want a screen protector just to protect it from scratches. If you want to protect it from breaking, obviously you would go for glass.

I’ve owned smartphones since the OG iPhone and I had screen protectors on a few of my phones and if I remember correctly they didn’t look like what Floss took off of his phone.

Exactly. Not everything has to be glass. There are still companies who make these types of screen protectors. And you are correct it wasn't that long ago this type of screen protector was all we had the option of. Flimsy film screen protector. It's only meant to prevent scratches to the glass. That's it.

Negative attention from who? People on this forum who account for 0.5% of all people who will buy these phones?

I haven't seen a single review yet that has mentioned the FPS being a huge issue.

Being worse than the S9. Yeah. Including the AC review.

But if you haven't seen any of the negative stuff then you're not paying attention.

It's not. It's the exact same material that's on the back of the phone out of the box. It's not soft, rubbery almost self-healing like most of them were back in the day. It won't protect from cracking and will look like crap in a week or two, you'll see.
FPS works flawlessly now

Say what you will about "new tech".

One of the reasons I've never bought a PIXEL phone, is because they are known for Beta Testing their customers. The headlines of issues on Pixels vs any other phone is unbelievable, and I don't know how people continue to buy them at Flagship prices. For that reason I'd never buy one. I've owned Samsung phones since the Vibrant, and this type of stuff is not what you expect from them, which is why I'm so hard on them for this. If it wasn't ready, and clearly it's not, they shouldn't have done it. Period.

I have yet to see any evidence of any brand beta testing customers. All brands have launch issues.

In fact I was stunned when I changed phones 2 to 3 years ago when I couldn't find the plastic type.

They used to make harder plastic ones thicker than what you are describing and they worked quite well.

Exactly like one of the ones I remember using on my 3GS it’s felt substantial and of course I could bend it but the one Flossy showed looked just like the protective film that normally comes on the phones you take off anyway unless he didn’t actually take of the screen protector.

I've not finished setting my phone up but in the couple of hours I played with it last night the in display sensor seems to work fine for me. I usually add the same fingerprint more than once too just so it picks it up even easier. Used the facial recognition on my S9 more than the FPS, and I think I'll probably do the same on my S10. After turning the "swipe to unlock" option off, the facial recognition is stupid fast to unlock IMO

They do and did. The curve also requires it to be a little thinner.

The self healing ones were one type. The other, more prevalent type we're hard films similar to the film that was on the back of the phone.

From the xda forums - turn on touch sensitivity in display settings. This should improve the fps performance much more

Relax and Just Use Face Recognition

I'd say just use face recognition to log in and have fingerprint as backup.

Yea yea it's more unsecure but lets think about it.

So someone is going to steal your phone somehow, which if you're in this forum you probably keep it glued to your hands so I don't see how anyone will play with your phone unless you gave it to him willingly, and use the photo he has of you and gain access? Like if someone has a photo of you already, of your front face, he's probably your friend and if he steals your phone, you need a new friend.

Or let's say someone who you don't know or know randomly steals your phone and somehow he took a great picture of your face too so now he's a sophisticated thief. First he doesn't even know if you have only facial recognition on and not fps so he's taking a chance. Also this probably didn't happen at home so immediately you know your phone is gone, so you guys all being tech savvy, lock your phone remotely. So even if this guy steals your phone he can't get in.

Or it's your gf, wife, kids, who takes your phone and gets in while scanning your face at night and you're worried about that. If that's the case, use Secure folder or get a new gf.

Or someone robs you gun point and demands you open the phone and either way at this point, you're going to have to open it for him and trust me you wouldn't be thinking, 'if only i didn't have facial recognition on things would be different'

This is just a little bit of humor, but what scenario are you guys afraid of?
