Fingerprint Scanner Not Working Well

I'm having the exact same issue with pushing so hard, I'm waiting for the screen to crack.
I even reluctantly removed the screen saver (that was so precisely installed by Samsung) and that didn't help. And as I expected, I was unable to replace the screen saver without air bubbles. Ugh. When I see videos of other users demonstrating the "proper" way to use the FPS, it looks so effortless. I need to perform the finger touch with vice grip like pressure to finally get an unlock.

I'm going to swap it out for another under the assumption that this is defective.
Unfortunately, I don't think yours is uniquely defective but I hope I'm wrong and your replacement works better. Such a shame as everything else about the phone really is too notch. I'm still in the honeymoon phase, obviously, but I can't say enough how much I hope there's an update to AT&T phones that makes the FPS easier to use.

Here it is I have figured it out. If you left the screen protector on turn on the touch sensitivity now redo your prints and use the widest part of your finger also don't make full contact every single time while registering. This had made a huge difference for me

What do you mean by don't make full contact?

I believe some people are getting better results by lightly tapping as opposed to pressing and flattening your thumb. It's a mixed bag because some are experiencing the opposite.

Guys I'm having the same problem. New phone today, I'm tech savvy and a Samsung Super fan. Really irritated with this finger print scanner. Came from the Mate 20 Pro. Worked like a charm on that phone. If Samsung doesn't fix in the next 48 hours I'm returning the phone.

48 hours isn't happening

Perhaps the update I have not received will fix it. If you press and hold for a second it seems to work better, but still not as easy as the reviewers made it look.

Box your phone up and send it back now, it won't be fixed that fast. From what I'm reading, it's a learning curve.

what if you registered your finger print once with a normal amount of oil on your skin and then dry it off then register it a second time? I assuming that registering it more than once is just adding additional data on the finger print info... I don't have the phone yet but the first thing Im doing is taking the screen protector off, hate them and never use them

My OnePlus 6T FPS hands down blows the S10+ out of the water. Because most apps use the fingerprint sensor for log in, this might be a deal breaker. Entering passwords for banking apps are no longer required and that particular tool is not working well on my $1,000 phone.

It's still beta.

The One Plus 6T uses optical and from what I understand improves the FPS recognition each time it reads your print.

This is not a $1k phone.
Are you saying it's not worth $1k or it didn't cost $1k? Because it definitely did cost $1000, is it worth that? Time will tell. I love everything about the phone besides the fps, hopefully Samsung will fix that.

Well that is if it is a software issue. If the issue is just the nature of the hardware there will be no fix.
I'm really hoping it's software and not hardware. Only time will tell. It is the worst fps I've ever used though. The s5 swipe fps was Samsung's first attempt at the fps and it was significantly better.

POS? Yeah okay. It's a brand new innovation. When something first comes out it takes a while to get it to work right. Or you wait 3 years and get it to work right and present it as something revolutionary
Well, Samsung held off releasing it for over 2 years. So people would assume that was to make sure it was ready for main stream. They've been talking about the in display sensor since the s8, but every new release they said it's not ready. I figured after that wait it would actually be ready for main stream.

No. It's a brand new innovation. Not something put out 3 years after everyone else has it
They've been "trying" to perfect this technology for 2 years that's why it wasn't in the s8. So it's not new to Samsung just new to us. Basically it wasn't ready for main stream, but Samsung said f it and released it anyways.

I just scanned my thumb multiple times and don't have an issue at all. It works just as well as my S7 seemed to work. When I only had one scan of my thumb, it wasn't so great.
