First impressions thread.

Coming from the Note 10+ to the Note 20 Ultra.

  • Fast. This thing is SO MUCH faster than my Note 10+. I have them both activated and running apps side-by-side is very noticeable.
  • The phone is bigger, but not much bigger feeling in my hands, so that's nice.
  • As others have pointed out, lighter. I was kind of shocked at how much of a difference you can feel in the weight.
  • The people that think the camera bump is too big. Here are a couple things to note:

If you measure the Note 20 from screen to include the camera bump, it's not any thicker than the S20 Ultra.
If you measure the BODY ONLY, you will notice that the Note 20 is THINNER, so the "bigger" camera bump is more an illusion.
Put a case on it and that really goes away.

  • Smoothness, doing a side-by-side with the Note 10+, the transitions are so much smoother and nicer.
  • I still hate OneUI, so I use Nova Launcher.
  • Camera is SO MUCH BETTER coming from Note 10+. Although, the shutter lag would be nice if that was fixed.
  • Laser Camera Focus thingy is AMAZING! (yeah, I didn't get much sleep, so my brain is mush)
  • Galaxy Buds Live are wonderful!! (yeah, not the phone, but I got them both at the same time (please see above comment about brain))

Overall, I am VERY happy I dropped the money to get the Note 20 Ultra 5G 512GB model. My only complaint isn't one that is too big of a deal for me, but I would have like to have bought the White color, but the black looks great!!

Now, my son is looking forward to getting my Note 10+ (he has my old Note 9) so I will have to decide what I want to do with the Note 9. :D

My phone arrived yesterday, it has taken me about 6 hours to remake the phone into my previous Note 10+ with notification sounds, icon placement, and updates. I go through that every new phone 📱. Just experienced 5G this morning, wow. The only thing is having to setup passwords for all those applications. This is noticeably faster overall. Just discovered that audio capture feature and it is fantastic. More later...

I prefer the right side buttons, but yea got used to the left. It is a quick transition for me tho.

Find myself reaching to left side of the screen for buttons. Muscle memory will eventually take over in a few days. ;)

First impressions so far for my white Note 20 Ultra,

The Good
This phone is super fast and responsive.
The display is amazing and 120hz is like butter.
Build quality it top notch. Samsung always has supper build quality hardware.
Bixby button is gone! RIP..you won't be missed.
Samsung One UI great! No complaints here.
The S-Pen has improved. Love using it as a remote to snap pics!
Big phone! But lighter than the S20 Ultra. Doesn't feel as top heavy to me.
Camera has been amazing so far! Haven't tested it on moving objects yet
Love the zoom and wide angle.
Fingerprint sensor seems faster than the S20 Plus/Ultra So does the Face unlock
Camera bump wobbles quite a bit. Not a ding as all phones wobble but this is wobbles more.

Not so good
no extra nibs/S-Pen tool
Curved display...rather have a flat display on the premium model
Camera bump is huge and wobbles a lot.

Gotta give Samsung props for Smart Switch backup software.
I had an encrypted back up on a SD Card of the S20 Plus I had a while back.
Restored the new Note 20 from that backup and it had all of my settings and wallpaper and installed all of my apps.
Restored my homescreen layout and folders.
Saved me sooooo much time!

Maybe its just me but the buds live don't seem that loud not sure why

Too early to judge battery life. But it on 37% at 16.00 after coming off charge at 07.30am

I will put this down to signal issues at work...I have since put it on work WiFi so will see how it is tomorrow

I thought the buds live were pretty loud, much louder than the current AKG Y500 on ear headphones that I have.

Why didn't you do a backup of your old phone with Smartswitch to your SD card and then import the backup in the new phone from the SD card? Takes care of most of the hassle you describe

Here's the scenario I'm in. I bought the note 20 ultra with intention of taking the sd card out of my note 10 plus and popping into my note 20 ultra. Wouldn't I get duplicate pics and videos if I copy that stuff to the note 20 ultra internal storage and then pop in the ntoe 10 sd card?

Phone off charge at 7:30 and at 10:30 I’m on 83% with little use. Issue i have is on 4G i have one bar so it’s likely going to hurt the battery more than at home

Screen is fantastic and i have moved text to the lowest and it looks so much better than the big icons. Took me a good 3-4 hours to get everything set up apps wise and i still have more to do as in put in passwords e.t.c

I still have my screen protector that. Came attached but might move it.

I have the samsung silcone case on and i must admit the bump isn’t noticeable for me.

I notice everyone saying it's taking hours to set up? I was thinking of using samsung switch? Is it not good or do you guys just like to start fresh? I've never used samsung switch before but someone was telling me it's the fastest way to port everything over?

You shouldn't. It's never done that to me

Yeah it's the fastest way to port everything over and I've done it on a couple of phones with no issues, this time I setup from scratch:)

I like both the regular 20 and the Ultra. I like the flat screen on the Note 20. My $10 tg screen protector works with the fingerprint reader just fine. I like how the glastic looks rather matte too. It's a good unit.

My Ultra is...Ultra. Its huge-er and I like that. My cheaply ESR screen protector worked with the fingerprint reader for a couple of hours and now my fingerprint doesn't read at all. So...had to order a WhiteStone Dome.

I did use smart switch, still had to do housekeeping on the new device, some passwords it kept others needed to be added again.
