First Note 8 pic / specs compliments of Evan Blass

Re: First Note 8 pic compliments of Evan Blass

I just hope somebody continues to build 16/9 flagship phones. I will never like that long skinny look. When everyone's TV is 2/1 ratio then we can talk about 2/1 phone screen ratio. Of the two s8+ looks nicer than the weird rectangular Note 8 imo but I like full screen youtube.

Re: Note 8 final specs, again, compliments of Evan Blass

Since do not use the pen much, I see reason to change from the 8+.

Would not be surprised to see a surge of 8+ sales since lower cost and more battery. Edge was different compared to Note 7, since more smaller display and more curved edges.

8+ and Note 8 are more comparable.

battery is a turn off because of the slightly larger display and the Spen that will drain it faster.

I want to get one eventually after a few months though when prices go down. It's looking like it will probably be in the $925 range here in the states. Factor in taxes and you're at $1,000 and add in some cases and that and you're probably at $1,100 since I buy Otterbox. Just way too much.

I'll stick with my S8 Plus for right now.

A few will. But I don't think this new aspect thing is a fad. I think it's the future.

Unless home tv's adopt 2/1 ratio this is imo a fad. It might take 2 or 3 years to be flushed. If in that time most tv shows are done in 2/1 ratio you are right. If the vast majority continue to be 16/9 this weird phone screen ratio is not tenable. If Apple sticks to 16/9 Samsung will lose.

Not just Samsung

reading more articles and looking at the supposedly specs I think I'm going to pass on this model

TV's are for media consumption. Phones are used for many other things. You don't hold your TV in your hand. The switch to 18:9 in phones was driven by ergonomics as much as anything else. It's easier to hold and still have a large display area.

When the largest AMOLED producers in the world invest billions of dollars on factories, R&D, etc to produce 18:9 displays for phones, guess who is driving the shift to that aspect ratio?

Apple doesn't make their own displays so all rumors point to a 18:9 display for the iPhone 8 as well.

S8/+, Note 8, LG G6, LG V30, Pixel 2, iPhone 8. The biggest flagships of the year, all in 18:9 or 18.5:9.

The dual cameras are really the only reason I would buy this over the S8+. I don't think it does enough to differentiate itself otherwise from what we know about it, especially when it will be significantly more expensive (due to S8+ deals).

yeah, I want the dual lenses. However, since this is the first gen samsung with it, it may have some bugs.

the S9 will have the dual too of course, but probably the next generation, just a guess.

Forbes article just out has the Euro price. If that is indeed the case and it's a similar price in the US it will be $1200 possibly. No way I will pay that or even if it's on sale for $1000. I'll stick with S8 Plus and Buy the Tab s3.

Euro prices don't reflect US at all. It's not even about conversion. It's just Pound, Euro and Dollar all will get different pricing.
