i thought the new Sense was 2.0, not 2.5?

are they upgrading the version #'s that haven't even been released? ha

Sense 2.0 is on the Desire...

Sense 2.5 is slated to be released "by April"...so it makes sense that it will be thrown onto the Thunderbolt as a surprise!:D

That would be a nice surprise since theres even more new features in "Gingerbread Sense" aka Android 2.4 with Sense (like the one on the Desire S)

Sense 2.1 (T-bolt was shown at CES with Sense 2.0, like the Desire HD has)

Actually I had read somewhere ... (was it in this thread or elsewhere?) That 2.4 was still going to be gingerbread. Further, when they do go to Icecream there will be no sandwich. :)

2.4 is icecream sandwich

There's two versions of Gingerbread

2.3 << exclusive to NEXUS S and N1 only)
2.4 (<< this one adds more support such as the integrated video chat)

2.5 or whatever there going to call it, will be Ice Cream and it will carry over some elements from Honeycomb such as the new notifications pane

ahhh k cool, where was this announced?

not true the more people and users on that tower eats up bandwith which slows things down so they continue to update/evaluate and add backhaul to the towers so they can handle increased load....

It is the server that has a finite amount of bandwidth, not the tower. They may need to add more servers, but towers merely increase coverage areas and pass data from the servers. We're both kinda' saying the same thing, and I understand your point, but data usage inherently drops off when people quit "playing" with the device. It's like a new car....You put the most miles on a "pleasure vehicle" in the first year of ownership than any other year. Cell phones don't take a year to bore people. I used a LOT of data last month, (27Gb but it was mostly on 4G, and was a lot of music and new apps) This month? 3Gb. They're going to run out of apps soon, just like the computer software industry of the 90's did and people will get bored with it. Do you think VZW will drop prices then? My bet is they don't upgrade too many servers and those that get upgraded will be in the extremely high traffic areas that haven't been upgraded in years to avoid the AT&T debacle. Netflix on a phone will kill servers, so the easy solution is to implement tiered data charges, make more money, and slow down data usage (negating the need for more servers) right out of the gate.

Bennnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn thanked this post.

Here's my guess. Feel free to thank me if I'm right, Bennnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn.

1.) 2.3 (or 2.4 - whatever) at launch.
2.) Best Buy on the 9th. VZW on the 10th.

It's a different bennnnnn.

Notice it's lowercase. And when I click on his name it goes to the profile where it says he has 0 posts.

My take on things

The "look inside your bowl" reference hists to Ice Cream being the OS version on it. Ice cream is served in a bowl usually. This explains the "Think you'll be proud of HTC and Verizon" part.

The 4th dimension part means a larger than expected battery. a 4220MAH battery is out of the question but since the 4th dimension reference implies a multiple of "4" followed with 420MAH means it will have a 1680MAH battery which is entirely doable.

The initial references of 2 and doubles can not possibly imply dual cores but it could be a BOGO deal at launch.

So it will be shipping with a 1680mAh battery with 2.4 installed and will be a BOGO deal.

I'd like to throw my hat into the ring on this one as I've been reading it since last night. When I saw the "4th dimension" line I thought of the 4th wall (addressing the audience in a theatrical performance). Maybe this is another clue to hint at Skype functionality at launch? I have no idea just my guess. I'd be pretty happy with most if not all the guesses made in this thread.

Once again the question needs to be asked:

If black_man_x has said Verizon's engineers have given the "green light" for launch, we have "insiders" saying the phone will launch around the 9th or 10th, and even going as far as to say they have made specific spec bump improvements to the device (all things suggesting that Verizon has finally figured out how they are going to launch this device)...

...then why they hell has Verizon STILL not said anything official about this phone that is supposedly dropping in a week??

Are they still leaving the door open for yet another pushback?

Hey guys, Ben and I just returned from our lunch break. now its back to the grueling work of being Verizon financial analysts. Anyway, he authorized the release of our latest clue.
