Dumb question time. To boot into recovery and install the upgrade....

Do I turn my phone off entirely - then hold Home and press Power?

Or do I leave my phone on and do the hold Home/press Power sequence?

Turn off the phone.
Once off hold the home button
Power on your phone.
Continue holding home until u see the triangle
Then press search.
Use the volume down to select install update from SD
then press menu to select ok.

Cory would you mind doing a quick write up on doing this and keeping root.

easiest way is with root explorer (in the market)

what you are basically doing is moving the su file from /system/bin to /system/xbin

so with root explorer, go to /system/bin

longpress on su, select move

navigate to /system/xbin

paste.


presto!

This rocks, my write had me test flash on her site hopeparr.com and music and all works perfect. Wifi seems to be working better now also

I fixed my problem with the error 7 logwrapper thing.
It has to do with Koush's recovery.
What he did was replace logwrapper with a symlink to his hijack file but he moved the original to logwrapper.bin
I went into /system/bin renamed logwrapper to logwrapper.bak and then renamed logwrapper.bin to logwrapper.
After that the error went away and it let me patch.
No SBF use required.

that would have saved me some time! oh well, all seems well after the sbf.

I'm getting error 7 with system/framework/framework-res.apk

I replaced with stock theme though...

did you try theme remover?

i think if you didn't move su to xbin and updated, you have to wait for a root for froyo

Strange that it is that easy. The guys over on MDW have a very complicated list of steps to do this.

I'm currently rooted but I am thinking of unrooting to install this update. Also, let's say I install this update but want to go back to stock 2.1...how do I do that?

Also calls seem nice and clear as usual.

Music and Ringtones are louder.

I like frame around the contacts pictures.

And damn I didn't move the SU to Xbin... guess I am stuck waiting for Froyo root.
