[FullHDMI] Official FullHDMI discussion

One of the changes to 1.3.8 was static licensing to support functionality without internet connection and those who use their EVO overseas. This introduced a crash on phones with a specific device_id, but it got fixed in 1.3.8a.

Another addition is the "Report a problem" option when you hit the menu button. This will automatically pull the logcat and paste it in an email message and will be sent directly to my dev email.

Currently working on a Landscape UI and more audio route options for those with a HDMI->DVI adapter or a bluetooth headset.

Thanks! Will test today and report back

Thanks for the information. I was wondering about that. Keep up the great work in helping us! your services are invaluable

hi orrebmas,
currently i couldn't get the app to work on the new gingerbread version of sense that was leaked to the evo, all i get is a snow screen everytime i try to change the resolution.
any ideas? or the app still not compatible with the gingerbread sense?
thanks.

I already tried an early leak of GB and didnt work well. It is very difficult to figure out what changed without the kernel sources which are not available.

Please send me a link to the version you are using so I can check it out.

From what I've seen the leaked prerelease Stock GB still has some issues with a number of apps. I have the feeling that the leak was an alpha or beta. If that's the case then changes made now may require another rework with the official. I haven't had the time to look at it yet as I'm currently tied up in a testing cycle. I'll try to look at it tomorrow.

MikG RC1 based off of the HTC Ace rom, with added stuff from MikZ and the Evo Gingerbread leak also does not work with FullHDMI. I PM'd aamikam for the Kernel and source code.

MikG is mainly based on the Desire HD Gingerbread rom so it uses the Kernel from it also, not the new gingerbread kernel from the leaked Evo Gingerbread.

Here is the Kernel Source code the the Desire HD 2.3.3 Rom
Clicky

and here is the kernel zip file that VirusROM GengerSense and MikG use
http://virusrom.com/Roms/Betas/GengerSense/Kernels/Stock_GengerSense_Kernel.zip

This would be cool if you could get HDMI to work with this rom. I am totally addicted to sense 2.1 and will be very sad if the Evo does not get it with the official Gingerbread release.

From the link it seems that the HDMi drivers have been taken out from this kernel.
Tree for ace-gb-kernel in mdjs-ace-gb-kernel - Gitorious
In the hdmi folder here there should be some header files and framebuffer driver files for the HDMI.

I am no software engineer but can they be copied and pasted from an Evo Kernel?
Thanks for taking a look.

Saying that a dev's app sucks in their thread is pretty disrespectful. If you want help, you need to provide more details than "Sense" ... Many Sense ROMs don't support HDMI (anything 'gingersense', or ports from other devices), we don't know what kernel you have, what kind of cables, TV, etc. You're gonna get back what you put in. GIGO.

Back on track though.... To anyone that was having EDID issues, ViViDboarder's amazing TigerBlood EDID fix has been merged into a couple custom kernels now. GoDmOdE has been updated and works great for me, and I've heard TiaMat even has audio routing through HDMI in CM7. There's some issues between 3.3.7 and 3.3.8 so I'm holding off on testing that for a bit.

Cleaned a bit, if youre having issues, details are key. And if your attempting to help, patients is key.

That is all, carry on.

Hey guys,

I have read through the thread and got my HDMI cord yesterday, I plugged it up and my TV recognized it (didn't say "No Signal") but the screen stayed black.

I have a Vizio 55" LCDLED TV and I was wondering what I am doing wrong? What settings need to be changed within the app to get it work?

Please help, thank you!

Hi mgianni,
There are a couple things you can try:
1. While the TV screen is black and FullHDMI service is on (green light in the app), unplug your cable from your phone and then plug it back in. This will force a re-connect and your TV will sync with the phone output.
2. Try a different resolution from the resolution tab, normally all TVs support 720p (needs custom kernel), EDTV and PAL. 800x600 is a PC resolution and is not supported by all TVs.
Please let us know if this helps.

Thank you so much! I will absolutely check as soon as I get home and report back.

What I do remember getting is something saying at the top in red lettering saying "not connected" or something along those lines. I'm not 100% sure what it said.

I will let you know, thank you!

If you get a "Cannot Start Service: Check Cable" message constantly even though your HDMI cable is plugged in and your TV is on, then your HDMI chip in your phone froze and you need to reboot your phone to get it back.
I had this happen to me on one of the TVs I tested on in the past, a Dynex. The steps to force this to happen is to connect the phone to that "special" TV then once you see "Video out connected" msg on Sense, hit the power button to sleep the phone (and the HDMI chip) then wake it back up by hitting the pwr button again. Once the HDMI chip wakes up and starts the communication protocol with that TV it locks up everytime and you will never get the "Video connected" msg from Sense until the next reboot. Notice that FullHDMI is completely out of the picture here and the problem only happens on a few number of TVs when the phone is connected and goes to sleep.

Blinking Between Portrait and Landscape - HBO Go

Sorry if this is repeated but I searched and couldn't find and answer. I have an unrooted Evo 4G and bought the full version of the app to utilize the landscape mode. I tried running the HBO Go app and the TV kept blinking between landscape and portrait mode while the phone was stationary and the picture on the phone was in landscape. Is there anything that I can do to stop this from happening?

Thats strange, I've never seen that happening before and nobody has reported such a problem. Please send me a logcat via the app's built-in "Report a problem". This will give me an idea into what is happening. Make sure that you report the problem right after it happens so that the attached logcat will have the events of interest (i.e. start the service, observe the issue for 2 seconds, go back to app and report the problem).
