Galaxy Note 2 - Issue with new version of maps

Does anybody else have issue with the 3D view in the new version of maps? At stops when not using navigation I'll check it to make sure I know where I'm going sometimes and in 3d view it swings around and changes direction constantly. I've also noticed it's even worse when I've glanced at it while driving. It will show me facing west, northwest, east or northeast when I'm going north for instance. Yet if I uninstall the update and go back to the old version 3D view works fine. So it has to be the maps app right? I wouldn't think it would be rom or kernel related.
