Galaxy Note 3 Battery Review

My note 3 was on 15% around 10:30 pm and I used it heavily with 40% brightness, I put it on the charger after 45 minutes it was on 74%. I don't think we need to worry about the battery at all. I got the phone last night so obviously have been using it constantly the whole day. Normal usage will be much less.

11 1/2 hours on my Battery today, and, that's with He "Power Save" mode on all day.

I was really hoping for longer life but, I'm an admitted Power user.

My Atrix HD Would have lasted barely 4 hours under the Same usage.

I find it funny when people say It should last at least this long at 100% brightness because my Galaxy S4 can do it. But everything I've herd says the note 3 has a brightness level that is 40% higher than that of the Galaxy s4. So if you thought your Galaxy S4 was really bright at 100%, that's equivalent to 60% brightness on the Note 3. Not to mention the Note 3 already has .7 inch bigger screen than the S4. I hear the Note 3 battery is pretty amazing, but if you think you can just max out the brightness all day based off you've done it with most phones you've bought, then expect some major drain. The major drain will not be because of the huge screen, but the fact that Samsung went alittle over board with the maximum brightness level to please direct sun users. Personally if its as bright as all the review sites are saying then I'll probably never go over 40% because I use to think the maximum brightness level on the S4 was too much for everyday use. So I'm expecting 6-8 hours of very heavy use from gaming and browsing. (though I might just drop the brightness down to 10-20% for web browsing do to Super Amoled uses more power displaying whites) I'm also hoping the Qualcomm Galaxy Note stays cool under intense games. I haven't used any new Qualcomm processors yet and I will never trust the Exnyos line again after getting a Nexus 10

It's unbelievable, but I always keep my phone at full brightness. I'm curious how much I would get with that.

As impressive the battery life is, I'm almost more impressed by the speed at which it recharges. 20% to 100% in just about an hour.

I've yet to do another stress-test on my battery. It's longer than my old AtrixHD, which is a good thing, relatively speaking, but I don't know that I'm going to see the "all day" longevity being reported here.

While I consider myself a heavy user, I find it hard to believe that I'm the heaviest user in these forums. Also, I think where I live in rural Central Florida coupled with AT&T's LTE are contributing to the excessive drainage. I've installed Battery Defender Basic (free) and will stress the battery again tomorrow, this time with the "Power Save" mode turned off but with Battery Defender's "balanced" mode on.

I was told by one friend that sometimes it takes several days of charging before the battery reaches its full potential. Anybody know if there's truth to that? If so, I might stress the battery again Thursday without Defender activated.

So, with all the rave battery reviews, is there anybody out there experiencing battery issues/disappointment? I can't say I'm disappointed, but I'm just not as "wowed" as I'd hoped to be.

I am also in Central FL. I am seeing much better than any phone I had before, but then again I was on Sprint and had terrible service. Moved to AT&T and seeing better battery life.

My day has been as follows:

- Off Charger at 8AM (6H, 40M)
- Currently at 50%
- Screen on 2HRs
- Voice Calls 1H 15M on BT
- Mixed usage of GMAIL, Google, Clash of Clans. Edit: Should note I get about 100 emails a day on my Gmail work account.

Definitely will get me through a full day no problem. However, 2 days is a huge stretch for my usage.

Getting better battery life than my old EVO LTE... today :
Off charger at 4:30am
Phone has been roaming all day
(Thanks sprint) out working
It is 7pm cst and I have 14% left

Much, much better than before...

Right now I have 9% with 3:29 screen on and 7:46 total. I am definitely not impressed. Is there maybe something I'm not doing or am doing that is lowering it like crazy? My usual day is that it comes off the charger at 7:30 and then into airplane mode while JM at school. I might play some games or something through the school day but I don't really use it a whole lot other than that. Then at about 2:30 I charge it back to 100% because its usually at about 85 and I won't make it the rest of the day at that. When I get out of school at 3:15 I turn airplane mode off. It sits in the car through track practice. Then when I get home I use it a good bit for twitter, email games, and such. I always have to plug it back in before 11. I never have WiFi on yet the battery monitor says its always on. I occasionally use GPS but I turn it off when not in use. The only other things I really leave on are multi window, air view, air gesture, and smart stay. Looking in my battery monitor it says I funny is using 10% for being on 12 minutes and CPU usage of 52 minutes. I'll try uninstalling that and see if it helps at all though I don't know why that would do anything.

I got it last night and set it up as much as I could before I need to go to bed(got it late and have to be up at 5a). It started out at 27% or so. I put it on the charger around 12%. I set it nearly completely up today. Installed Action Launcher and downloaded other apps on Wifi that was a new connection.

Here's my stats: 11%
6h 1m 15s on batter
Screen 35% (on lowest setting)
Time On: 2h 34m 43s

Obviously, I hope I get better. I'm charging it to 100% right now and then I'm going to restart the phone(old superstition probably) and see how it lasts the rest of the day.

Here are my battery results from yesterday... I've been managing to easily get through the day with battery to spare.... I keep my brightness at about 50% at all times

I went into App Ops (in stock 4.3 accessible via Nova launcher) and toggled off a bunch of location stuff and battery life is improving. It's a great little surprise in 4.3 and I have yet to hear of anyone on the forums who has utilized it.

Today is my first day using my note 3 after letting the battery fully charge and 4 hours after taking it off the charger I'm already at 25% =( can someone give any advice for how to make it last longer? I've lowered the brightness to the lowest setting, have gps and bluetooth off and I have power saving mode on. I had the note 2 before this and was able to go all day with more use than what I've done today. As I typed this, my battery went down 2%. Can someone give me some advice?

It still scans for WiFi even if it is off unless you disable it in advance settings. Also disable any sync you don't need with google under accounts.
I dont use the default email app but gmail app and I had to disable the email sync because i would be getting email notifications twice.
