It sounds like a app is just using your mobile data really hard once you have it on.

Re: galaxy note 3 overheating

I have had a pretty big issue with my note 3 overheating. Grab my phone off the charger this morning and headed out. I grab my phone about 29 minutes later and it was roasting hot, and I had lost 30% of my battery power. That was the first for that. I downloaded plants vs zombies game app, and when I play that game it gets real hot, real fast. I'm figuring the game takes a lot of processing power. I'm mean it has gotten so hot to the point of almost being to hot to hold. I do have a SanDisk card 32 GB. I have noticed since that was put in it has gotten hotter more often, but it was getting hot before the card was in. As I am writing this I have lost 33% of my battery and it has been unplugged for only an hour.

Re: galaxy note 3 overheating - SOLVED (sd+dropbox)

problem solved!

I found two problems leading to overheat on my phone. First one, 64gb sandisc msd card class 10 with 30gb of files. Some of them had giant FILE NAMES that samsung indexing couldnt read (I think that was the reason, because my note was trying to index my files everyday for hours! and it couldnt get it done. So I thought: maybe some filename is causing this). I removed those files and/or change their names. I did the very same thing on dropbox (my second problem, since even removing sd card it was still overheating "with no reason".) I looked for files with big names on them and change them.

took a while to finish indexing the sd card files but, that was it! overheating had completely stopped by the end of indexing (it didn't decrease. It has STOPPED). My note 3 looks like another phone now! unbelievable!

Re: galaxy note 3 overheating

WHAT IS MEAN TO INDEXING THE SD CARD?

Re: galaxy note 3 overheating

I too am having difficulty with my second att note 3.

Camera daemon, overheating started again today.

It also seems that the android os is running at odd times. Draining the battery.

My first note 3 locked on camera, black screen, resets would not remedy.

So a new phone week ago, now similar issue.
6-8 hr. battery max, really too bad as I do like the phone and features.

Thanks Zef and Tutt for your suggestions.
I have tried them. Now to att for a different simm card to see if that makes any difference.

Re: galaxy note 3 overheating

I changed a new SIM and it looked fine until now
The new problem is a new memory card me dry battery

Re: galaxy note 3 overheating

My Note 3 did the exact same thing just before a pink hue/haze appeared permanently on the screen. Thereafter my SIM card melted and became fused in the slot. This happened within hours after unboxing the device. Device is gone on for assessment and I have to now wait 7 days to find out whether it will be repaired or replaced

My note 3 is experiencing the same problem. Had it to about 45 degrees celcius before. Took it to the samsung center, i need to come back later, to reinstall to a new software. Now my phone doesnt charge to maximum and draining the battery while charging. Any solution with what you had ? Thx

Re: galaxy note 3 overheating

They said theres something wrong with my software version and i need to update the software to the next version

Re: galaxy note 3 overheating

Samsung servce center said there is something wrong with the version of my software. Need to upgrade to the next one. But battery start draining before i could upgrade. Did anyone battery get spoiled ? And do u get your battery replaced ?

Re: galaxy note 3 overheating

With sdcard concerns; I installed a large amount 30gb to card with cable and had indexing process eating up battery and heating up phone. I pulled card, formatted and started over. This time I installed all files with sd reader on computer. Reinstalled card and haven't had any problems since. Check your battery stats and see if file indexing is your culprit. If so, pull card and start over without using cable. Might work for some.

Heat is a well known battery killer. The note 3 heats up more than the note 2. I have both. Could be due to S800. But S600 doesn't heat up like that. I also have HTC One. Could this be a characteristic of the S800 SoC?

Re: galaxy note 3 overheating

The reason of overheating for my note 3 was a Skype. I've found out that it is a leader for battery use. The skype was killed and now everything is OK.

Re: galaxy note 3 overheating

I have the Sandisk ultra 32gb right now with any app that can be moved to the sd card on the sd card...I just got the Sandisk extreme 32gb and I'm in the pieces of moving all my photos and stuff over, I hope this solves the overheating issue...

Re: galaxy note 3 overheating

Lol guess you guys never owned a HTC One X.. I don't see any real high temperatures around here (in Celcius). My previous phone (HTC One X) reached 55+ degrees Celcius (battery temperature) while playing a game for 5 minutes, CPU temperatures where even higher (70+ Celcius) it was so hot that the screen was even too hot to touch lol!

But the phone survived these temperatures just perfectly and it's still working after 2 years (now my GF's phone).

Furthermore don't forget that the S800 is a beast, and equipment that works hard needs a lot of energy which is converted to heat (simple physics). So if you feel that the phone is generating heat it is nothing to worry about it's how physics work :)

hello guys.

please let me know if someone has a similar problem:

my note was very very hot. it was in my pocket, and i felt it crazy hot. i took it out to check it, and then i saw a cranck on the lcd screen, and the phone became black screen and no service. at the phone lab they said that i broke my NOTE 3 and its not under warrenty. i keep say that i didnt do anything, it is a manufacture failure, bcz there is NO SERVICE, and black screen. if it was "just" the screen, it would have "SERVICE". please help me

Hi guys. I have the same issue. My device heat up really fast. Temperature is about 96?F after Web browsing for a 10 minutes. I don't have a SD card. I factory reset my device to. But it not solve. Can anyone help me?
