For 1k, the phone has to be near perfect and give me the wow factor. I canceled my order as well. I am really happy with my Oneplus 5 but I am looking to get the Pixel 3.

The pixel 3 will probably have a better design, display, a bump to 6gb of ram and support Tmobiles 600mhz band.

Assistant will advance more and Lens will probably be out of beta at that point

Have to go with what works for you... For me 600mhz isn't even on my radar since I am not on T-Mobile.

Stopped by Verizon. They had 4 phones, 2 Pixel 2s, 1 P 2XL, and an original XL. To me, the screen on all four phones were great. I saw nothing in the 2 XL to cause concern. ( I have a 2 XL, 64 on pre-order). The squeeze function worked reliably. There were a total of 31 apps on the phone. Nothing seemed Verizon specific. The phone did have notifications saying the setup was not yet complete, so perhaps they were not set in yet. But it did have a verizon sim in it. As for the fit, it felt fine in my hand, nice and slim and sleek. Played with the Regular 2. Same sort of things. But I like the bigger screen. I did pop down a section to look at the Samsungs. These screens definitely seemed brighter, but it felt almost like everything was cranked up high. The 2XL seemed much easier on the eyes. I did notice that adaptive brightness was turned on for the 2 XL. Not sure if that really made a difference at all. Very happy with the decision to go with the 2XL.

Yes the Verizon one is a locked bootloader (if we go off last year) -- and the apps can be removed.

The Google phone comes clean but the E-SIM only works for Project Fi. No one else.

Went to another Verizon store today.
Pixel 2XL display is flawless....no banding and don't see the blue tint when viewing at an angle.
Sound from the speakers is decent but I'm not picky.
My impression of the black is better than yesterday....it's actually kind of nice but I think I will like Panda better

Just got back from Verizon.
- Pixel 2 looks more premium to me. I like the beveled glossy trim around the front edge. The XL just has the curved bezel.
- Pixel 2 XL has the blue tint with the slightest tilt. It looks very annoying.
-why do I feel the 2XL has bigger bezel than the 2? The whole front just looks odd, it is hard to explain. Not impressed by the LG panel.
-Both screens are less saturated than my Pixel. Both screens are brighter at 100%.
- the black Pixel 2 looks very slick. The blue Pixel 2 power button looks fun from far, but feels and feel plasticky. The black power button is more impressive.
-the coating feels like a very fine powder coat. Not bad at all.

I wish HTC made the 2XL. The design is odd. The regular 2 is very impressive. The only improvement it needs is longer display with smaller top and bottom bezel, however, the current design does not bother me at all

It definitely makes a difference on my Nexus 6P. I typically keep brightness up all the way, but with Adaptive Brightness on, because the screen brightness kicks up quite a big notch when I turn it off and is then too bright. Even in a very brightly lit room, my 6P's screen doesn't go to its fully capable brightness when AP is on. (I do like to turn AP off when watching videos, though. To the point where I wish it was a a toggle in the quick settings. For some reason, the screen is just to dark to me when watching YouTube or, say a movie on Vudu.)

This was part of the reason I went with the 2 and not the XL. LG just doesn't make nice phones or panels. Don't get me wrong, The V30 is nice, but once again it feels cheap and the display isn't great.

I currently have the Nexus 6p and was going to upgrade to the P2xl but am now questioning that after seeing them today in the VZW store. The P2xl was almost the exact same size as my 6p and I was hoping it would be a little smaller. I was most impressed with the V30. I have owned almost every Nexus device in the past but I'm a little bummed I wasn't as impressed with the P2xl as I hoped.

They can only make a 6" screened phone so small.

I visited today and checked them out.

The screens were at least as bright as the Pixel XL but not worlds brighter. Both panels looked decent enough to me. The color temp is a little cooler, hence the bluish tint some say they are seeing, but the whites seemed more white with less pink hue. As others have said, the portrait mode on the store units only works on the rear camera.

I took a couple of test shots and they looked mostly good but there was a woman in the far background that was oddly managed by the effect and it wasn't perfect to say the least. Other than her, though, the rest of the bokeh was amazing.

I actually quite liked the feel of the newer textured aluminum backs. It felt quite nice to me. And the curved glass on the felt pretty good. The bezels/screen definitely have a different "vibe." It's tough to describe. I think the think that's throwing people off is that it's a screen that WANTS to be bezel-less but isn't. So the fact that it feels like it should be but obviously isn't makes it a dichotomy of expectations (visual vs. tactile). Nonetheless, I think it would become invisible after daily use as quickly as the white front did for me on the 2016 Pixel XL (I always traditionally preferred black fronts).

I didn't get to try out the speakers, unfortunately, but I don't think I'll be disappointed. I'm not an audiophile. I normally use the speaker for some phone calls and for watching YouTube videos while cooking.

Either way, the wife needs to move on from her Moto X PE since it was abandoned by Moto/Lenovo and she really loves the Pixel camera. So I'm on board with the 2 XL I pre-ordered on day 1. I just wish I had ordered the stormtrooper (I prefer that over "panda" since I'm a stormtrooper with the 501st Legion) as it would have been more my "style" these days.

The 2XL was...amazing.

The demo unit at my Verizon store was an extremely fresh unit. No discoloration to speak of.

The fluidity of the OS really stuck out to me. While the phone is definitely nice, but not as gorgeous as the Note series, it's the software that really stands heads and shoulders above other Android devices.

I also loved how the display just melts over the sides and meets the aluminum frame. Coming from my 6P, this is a much welcome addition when swiping from the sides.

The device is flirting with perfection. At least for me.

I'll personally never purchase another non- Google phone again.

I couldn't agree with you guys more. First off, why did they use two separate manufacturers? I think the identical look of the first gen sizes was nice and uniform, same as the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 plus.

The pixel 2 is most certainly the more premium device, which is a bummer

Agree on both counts - 2 makers ?? - Pixel 2 is the more premium device - hope you are correct.

Well I finally got some hands-on with the Pixel phones at Verizon after work. I have no idea what people are seeing but I didn't notice any blue tint on my end. The screen was sharp and very beautiful. Felt nice in the hand. Very fast and responsive. I wish I would have had more time with the camera though.

I compared it next to my Nexus 6 and the P2XL was much taller but more narrow. I prefer the screen size of my N6 but we're in the era of taller screens now. Sorry for those that are changing their minds. For me? I'm on board with the Pixel 2 XL. This is only the beginning. I really think Google will knock it out the park with the Pixel 3.

No way. the XL looked and felt more premium. well the ones I interacted with anyway. The pixel 2 looks good though, and it felt good, I just couldn't stand the crazy big bezels. Larger screen is the way to go.
