Go to a Verizon store? Post your thoughts here!

All this talk of blue tint and how Samsung’s are perfect. Did we forget hat Samsung had to release an update to fix red tint issues on the s8/s8+?

I didn’t notice anything on these other than normal shifts when viewing at an angle. All phones do this.

Not true. Neither my htc u11 or htc 10 does that. And not even iphones.

Went to a Verizon today after reading through this thread. The screen, speakers and build quality are nothing to worry about. They're all okay. Nothing special, just okay. I left feeling a bit underwhelmed. The hardware was...meh. The software, well it's stock, vanilla. I like stock but it just rounded out a "meh" experience. After leaving I canceled my pre-order and ordered a Note 8. For me personally the Note fits me better. That said in a few months when I can pickup a used 2XL for around $500 I'll give it a go.

Just left the Verizon store...had one of each. I’m pretty OCD about my phones and screens look great on both. Are they as vibrant as the Samsung phones no but look excellent as of now keeping my order for the XL. The speakers sounded fine....they are stereo and do the job...better than many other phones I have used. It didn’t seem all the camera features were set up. Still nice to see the phones right there when I walked in. Almost bought a case and screen protector as well but the guy was trying to sell me the phone ah ha. Won’t have it till the 25th.

Re: Just tested pixel 2 and 2 xl at verizon store (my thoughts)

some journalists have mentioned that the back has some sort of coating on the aluminum . what was ur take?

Went to Verizon again to play with the Pixels and my verdict still stands. I'm keeping my order in place. The way I see it every phone has a tint when you view it in angles. The V30 had a bluish tint as well. The Note 8 had a greenish tint on the curve. I understand if it bothers people but I view these screens head on...it doesn't bother me.

Nothing I see in that video looks at all troubling to me. I don't understand why anyone would care what the display looks like at a severe angle. You are not going to be using the phone while holding the screen at a severe angle.

We might as well argue about how the display looks while the phone is in your pocket...

Your right, if it was only seen at a severe angle no big deal. But it doesn't only happen at severe angles, it happens at even the slightest angle. For a premium device it should not do that.

So I went to the Verizon store again today after having looked at the XL yesterday. I came away with the same conclusion as yesterday. I am keeping my preorder! The screen looked great to me and the fluidity of the software, coming from Samsung S8+, was outstanding. The camera was really nice and I watched the new Thor trailer and it was very loud and clear. The phone felt premium enough for me and I'll have it in a case its whole life so honestly it doesn't really matter. I think I'll be happy with all the latest updates and features. Meanwhile my S8+ is still on 7.0.....

I have only seen videos, I have not seen one in person.

In the videos I've seen the display looks fine to me until the viewing angle becomes quite oblique. I am due to receive my phone by next weekend, so I'm not in all that big a hurry to go to the local Verizon store, especially since it's raining here in Connecticut. If the rain lets up, and I'm bored enough, maybe I'll venture out.

If your personal experience has been different you should absolutely do what you perceive to be in your best interests.

I didn't see anything in that video posted earlier, unless you tilt it on to it's sides and are looking at the chamfered edges head on, but who does that? No one. I think people are over reacting to demo units. Just wait until you get your phone, then you have 30 days to decide if you want it or not.

The blue tint is not just at "severe" angle. You tilt it slightly the color shifts. Screens are important in a phone just my 0.02.

Not sure why people down play such a glaring differences between 2 and 2XL.

I have never seen a Samsung phone do that. The current Pixel does not have this issue.

We're not down playing it. I'm not seeing it at all. I've seen a demo unit at the Verizon store, and it is not doing that at all.

Its very difficult to see on video but very noticable in person. For most people it wont be a big deal. I'm upgrading from an htc u11 and i definitely think my u11 looks better. But as I've stated before it's the only downside i see on the phone.

That's great you don't see it, but most of us did. When most of us see the same issue, it is a legitimate concern.

I vaguely remember a new phone allows people with polarized sunglasses clear view of the screen. Is that the new Pixel2/2XL? I can't remember where I learned that information..maybe some YouTuber. I wonder if it is related.
