Go to a Verizon store? Post your thoughts here!

I think only a couple people claim they see no color shift whatsoever. Almost all see the blue tint with subjective thumbs up or down.

For those who saw no blue tint, I wonder if they were mistaken the XL as 2XL. Also I wonder if their 2XL had blue filter turned on.

Blue tint issue aside, I wonder how each display work when polarized sunglasses are used.

The screen is on blue side because it's color temperature is on the cooler side, the regular pixel display yellowish on the warmer side. The pixel 1 also has a blueish tint, it's just the color temperature.

No, this is a different phenomenon that is being discussed. The screen adopts a bluish cast when the viewing angle is changed. It's much easier to see in person than in a video, if you have a Verizon store near you.

For the record, I did not notice any blue tint when viewing the screen straight on.

I went into my Verizon store and played with the P2 and P2 XL for over an hour, mostly with the P2 XL though.

Feel
Holding both phones I thought that the P2 felt heavier than the P2 XL which I found strange since the P2 XL weighs more. I think both phones feel solid and I like the look of them

Screen
Both screens look polished and crisp but the XL looks better. Ya there's a light blue tint when looking at it at an angle but on happens when the screen is at an all white picture. I would've went with the P2 for the all white option but looking at both phones, I just can't get over the 5" screen. I like bigger screen sizes. Watching the new Star Wars trailer it's in widescreen so your stuck with the black boxes but when watching the same trailer on the Note 8, tap on the screen and you can blow the picture up so it fills the whole screen which was really nice. Wished the Pixel had that option.

Speakers
I thought that the speakers were really good. Hard to get a proper assessment with how loud the showroom is though. I thought that the speaker was on par with the Note 8 and iPhone 8

Camera
Probably the best camera on any smartphone. Tested it side by side with the V30 and the Pixel was much more sharper and clear. The V30 couldn't make out "Phone" on the charger looked more blurred out but the Pixel was sharp and clear. V30's front facing camera is dog crap, Pixel 2/XL blows it out of the water not even close. Won't go with Samsung cause over time their phones turn into a lag fest.

Overall I'm pretty excited about my preorder of the Stormtrooper 128GB Pixel 2 XL version. Now gotta play the waiting game till Nov 9th.

Anyone who worry about blue tint. I had V30 for 3 days now (I owned s8+ , pixel XL and most flagship) It's not bother me at all. You get used to it after few days.

So It wear glasses and have a anti reflection coating installed on them if you see them at a angle they have a blue tint to them, this coating helps with all light reflection but primarily designed for fluorescent lighting.

Here is a UTube video his glasses have the same , anti-reflective coating is it possible this is what we're seeing on the XL 2 screen

Maybe we will find out why it's designed this way when it's drop tested or people try to bend it. I anticipate high grades and assumed Google did their homework.

One would hope. But, with the screen slopping toward the frame makes me nervous seeing the screen sits above the frame.

Re: Just tested pixel 2 and 2 xl at verizon store (my thoughts)

We were all so focused in the orange power button for panda..... We missed the mint power button on Kind of Blue! //uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20171012/5c804a4e799dd0a219cf2e6915224b86.jpg

Nice. How would you say the Kinda Blue looks in person compared to the Clearly White?

I have a pre-order in for an unlocked Kinda blue at the Google Store however the dispatch date isn't till November. The Clearly White is available to dispatch on Oct. 17th.

Thanks

I'm a big fan of blue as a color.... Kind of blue us meh. It's a weird faded light blueish gray. I put a case on my phones so as long as the front is the color I want (black) I'll choose whichever phone I can get quickest. I wanted the panda but went black. I'll never see the color of the back anyway

Checked out the Pixel 2 XL again at another local store. The regular Pixel 2 did have a more premium feel, but very slightly. The XL 2 doesn't have any eye-popping anesthetics that you see on the S8+ and Note 8, but I still loved it. The Note 8 did feel much better and screen looked gorgeous, I just know the phone will be a lag fest with the OEM skin and bloat. I simply cannot deal with a phone that's going to die quickly. I did see the blueish tint when tilting the screen on the Pixel 2 XL, but saw the same tint on the V30. The metal is powdercoated, which is nice. Wish I could test the Panda one, since it apparently is a smooth metal. I also noticed portrait mode was there for the front facing camera but when selected, it just switched back to the regular camera. Hope that's not how the phone will actually be.

Still going with the XL 2 purely off stock Android OS and quick updates.

I have glasses with the blue filter. I noticed the blue tint shift with or without glasses, but honestly, I could care less - I don't look at the phone sideways.

I played with the Pixel 2 in my local Verizon store.(reason why i preordered directly after).

I checked out the phone at another verizon store and took a video of the blue tint issue.

Here's a video:

The blue tint doesn't just occur at extreme angles, it occurs at small angles too though not as pronounced as at 45 deg or more angles. I compared it to the pixel xl and the regular xl didn't have the issue. I also think the regular xl screen is better due to the vivid colors though the 2 xl probably has a sharper screen.

Yeah, to me that looks like a polarizer kicking in at a certain angle.

I took a step back from this whole blue tint issue and asked myself a question. Does it really bother me that the phone *might appear a tad bit blue when looking at a pure white screen at an angle and would this affect my enjoyment in any way?

The answer is no.

I did not notice the blue until I rewatched the video. I agree with everyone here about that would not bother me either.
