Go to a Verizon store? Post your thoughts here!

Someone on either reddit or xda posted pix of a Verizon demo model that he says he factory reset to get at developer options. One of the pix he posted did show "OEM Unlocking" grayed out.

It was xda, post #65 :

Boo! No, not you, Verizon. Thanks for digging that post! :)

Well, I was holding off on getting the 2 XL until around the holiday shopping season, so knowing now that OEM unlock doesn't function for Verizon (like the 1st gen Pixel), pretty much narrows my options to the Google Store and/or Project Fi. Hope they have some good deals then.

Re: Demo units should be in VZW stores 10/12

What's on the screen of the V30...? If that's the messaging screen...it's ugly 🤪

I spent 20 minutes with the 2 XL today at the Verizon store specifically to reassure myself that the screen would be fine.

I came away satisfied. At least on the display unit I could not see any banding. I didn't have a great background to check it with, so there could be some, but I didn't see it.
My takeaways from the screen are it doesn't get as dim or as bright as my Note 3 (yes 3 ☺). Hopefully that won't be an issue outside or at night.

Now to see what the onslaught of reviews will say about it tomorrow.

Sorry I wasn't clear, I meant when I tried to activate developer mode, it stopped me from getting there with the demo mode only message. Had I got it to developer mode, I wanted to see if it has an OEM unlocking toggle, like my 6P. I figure until Verizon Pixel 2 units arrive on customer's hands, that toggle (or lack of it) would prove if it allows for bootloader unlocking.

My bad, I thought you were thinking that because Verizon locks the bootloader that you couldn't unlock developer mode. Though in my defense, there are a lot of people who would think that way. We're still getting questions about whether a Google Store Pixel will work on Verizon, and if Verizon phones will work on other carriers. I would've thought that would've gone away after a year.

I went to two V stores today. One phone wouldn't charge on the security dongle and was dead and they wouldn't unhook it and plug it in at the counter. At the other store some armhole entered a security PIN and they had no idea how to unlock it. That phone is a brick now. They each has the small phone in working condition but, as I want the XL I was out of luck.

New Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL

I was at a Verizon store today looking at the new Pixels and the guy told me that they will be ready for purchase on Oct 19th. This Thursday!

I can see a bit of a blue color at angles I wouldn't look at my phone at.

Haters will be haters, we all have our own opinions. I can't wait to get my Stormtrooper on November 15th.

Fun fact, I ordered my original XL on the 20th of October and received it on the 25th of November. I ordered the Stormtrooper on the 4th and should receive it on the 15th of November. Hopefully I'll get it earlier than that but I think it's worth it in any case.

I created this video for people like me who are eagerly waiting for the Pixel 2 XL with its allegedly brilliant camera and promising battery life.

In this video, you will get to:
1. see the PIXEL 2 XL up close and have a quick look at the camera’s focusing capability
2. compare the PIXEL 2 XL with a range of smartphones including the XIAOMI MI A1 and LG G6
3. judge how the PIXEL 2 XL screen compares with its smaller sibling’s, the PIXEL 2

n my opinion, based on a few minutes with both phones:
1. the PIXEL 2 felt more premium than the PIXEL 2 XL which is indeed very light in the hand
2. even though it is not a deal breaker for me, I am not sure what to think of the ‘big’ bezels on the PIXEL 2 XL
3. as a lot of people reported on forums like Android Central’s, the tint and the viewing angles of the PIXEL 2 XL’s p-OLED screen appear much worse than the PIXEL 2’s AMOLED screen... nevertheless, I doubt it would bother me that much.
4.again as mentioned by many people online, I confirm the portrait mode wasn’t available on the front facing camera
5. I don’t have small hands and the PIXEL 2 XL felt like a 2-hand device due to its size and uneven weight distribution? The LG G6 is a much more comfortable smartphone to use with one hand.
6. Last but not least, due to the excellent battery life performance of the LG V30, I have high hopes in the battery life of the Google PIXEL 2 XL and its bigger battery pack!

THANK YOU to everybody for sharing your first impressions here on the Android Central forum. I found them most helpful.

Hey I just find out on my V30 when I go to developer mode and I enable SRGB mode. The blue tint is almost gone ( still little bit but much better) and color still vibrant.

If you guys try on pixel XL maybe it will work the same way because both phone use the same panel.
