Google Nexus 6 on Verizon

Re: Finally found out when Verizon is going to come out with the Nexus 6.

The thought of a nexus with VZ Navigator loaded on it turns my stomach.

It'd be like seeing Secretariat giving pony rides at the local petting zoo.

Re: Nexus 6 on Verizon

Bought mine from Motorola with their no interest financing...stuck in my vzw sim and am loving it.

Waiting for them might take too long.

ya i can't pay it upfront so i'm stuck waiting for verizon :(

Re: Still can't use the nexus 6 on VZW

It's not hit or miss. No need to call Verizon, no need to have the IMEI "added" to their system.

An activated Verizon SIM will work in a Nexus 6. Period.

I guess I am being very thick here...

My nano SIM comes from Verizon on Monday. I chatted with them the other day and they know it will be used on a new phone on my number (I told them it was an HTC One M8 - since when I told them it was an N6, they told me it wasn't supported).

How do I activate it?

Re: Still can't use the nexus 6 on VZW

What other 4G phones do you have besides the N6? The trick is to activate that new sim with a VZW supported device and then swap it back to your N6.

Do you have any friends that have a VZW Moto X or Iphone 6 that you could borrow for a few minutes.

You could also try using a sim adapter, if your old phone only supports a microsim, but you want to make sure to avoid damaging your old phone and some cheap adapters don't always work well.

Re: Any info on Verizon Nexus?

Hey all. I've scoured google but cannot find what I'm looking for. I have been eligible for an upgrade on verizon since January and really need a phone. My Galaxy S4 is dying a slow death. I really want the Nexus but there's no way I can afford to buy one outright. Is Verizon getting a Nexus or was it just a rumor? I've been going back and forth between the Nexus and Note 4 and Verizon has a pretty good deal on the Note but I wanted to know for sure what was going on with the Nexus. If they are going to carry it but will not release it for some time I don't think I can wait. Anyone hear any chatter? Thanks for the help.

Leave Verizon out of the loop. Order one from Motorola with interest free financing for like 12 months and you'll be good to go.

Re: Any info on Verizon Nexus?

Both of my local Verizon stores have seen the Verizon Version of the Nexus 6 via Motorola Reps. We should see it in the next two weeks as Verizon really wanted a month of the Droid Turbo. Take that for what it's worth. Plus I can tell you that Verizon has already done it's carrier testing on it. They did it at the same time as the Moto X 2014 5.0 testing. I work in the wireless industry and closely with Verizon Wireless and know the cell techs that routinely test out new phones. The interesting thing is that Verizon nor any other carrier get to do extensive field testing with Apple iPhones.

Re: Any info on Verizon Nexus?

Look at the Moto Droid, it's almost pure Android. If I were willing to tie myself to a Verizon contract (which I'm not after the Galaxy Nexus fiasco) then the Droid would be a very attractive choice. It has a 5.2" QHD screen, a huge battery and, a higher resolutaion camera than the N6 and the same CPU. It's the phone that the Nexus 6 should have been. The downside is that it's updates are going to be filtered though Verizon, if that doens't bother you then it's the best choice right now.

Re: Any info on Verizon Nexus?

Thanks again for the help everyone. I really enjoyed having an unlocked bootloader with my HTC Incredible and would like to get back to that. I'm sure Verizon is not going to allow that but who knows. My mother in law got the turbo and it is a nice device but u haven't really had the chance to play with it. If the Moto X 14 had a bigger battery I would have gotten that by now but the reports on battery life scare me a bit. I'm going to give it until the new year, unless my s4 crap out, and see what comes out. I'm sure if Verizon is drumming up a nexus it's going to be locked down and updates could take awhile unless moto has access to it like it does with the Moto X. Thanks again for everyone's input.

So... if I activate it in another phone with a nano SIM (we have an HTC One M8 in the house), Verizon will think that phone is being activated on my number (due to the SIM they just sent me has already been associated to my number in their system).

Steps would be:

1. Pull SIM out of HTC One M8.
2. Put new SIM in HTC One M8 and activate. Essentially this phone is now associated to my number.
3. Pull the new SIM out of the HTC One M8.
4. Put the original SIM back in the HTC One M8. This phone is now reverted back to its original number.
5. Put the newly activated SIM into my Nexus 6 and it will work.

Is that correct?

Re: Finally found out when Verizon is going to come out with the Nexus 6.

Well I got tired of waiting and already ordered a Moto X, but oh well it isn't THAT much longer. Plus it's really easy to disable all that VZW crap so I don't see why that kind of thing is such a big deal at this point.

Re: Still can't use the nexus 6 on VZW

It should. You may want to go login to your account online and go to ADD or SWITCH device just to make sure the new sim is linked to your # once it is activated in the M8.

However, all your other steps are correct. Put the old sim back in the M8---and it will go back to the old # it was associated with

The new Nano sim will go in your N6 and everything should work. Let us know.

Re: Any info on Verizon Nexus?

If you want a truely unlocked phone then wait for the N6 and get it through Google Play. I wouldn't be surprised if Verizon locks down their version of the N6, that sort of thing is built into Verizon's DNA. When I got the N5 last year I switched to AT&T. AT&Ts coverage isn't quite as good as Verizon's in rural areas but it's comparable in populated areas. AT&T offers a $15/month discount if you brig your own device.

Verizon can't lock devices that use the 700mhz network

I want to believe you but my heart can only take so much of a beating

I just spoke to a VZW rep who said it would be available for pre-order soon, FWTW.

U.S. Cellular released the phone. I hope we get the 64 Gb nexus 6 cw like they did. I can feel the date ever so close now

Re: Still can't use the nexus 6 on VZW

My head hurts...

I tried to activate my newly provided SIM card in another device in order to activate it... and I got an error "cannot read SIM... call your provider"

I tried it in two different phones and got the same error...

VZW sending me another SIM...

Re: Still can't use the nexus 6 on VZW

I wanted to update this since i started it and a lot of people are chiming in and still have questions. The numerous people on this forum are correct you; can just call VZ and say you need a nano sim for the a phone you got from some 3rd party. Theyll ask you what kind of phone it is to make sure they send you the right size sim but thats really the only reason. Theyll send it out to you fedex (which they did for me) free of charge. Youll get the sim throw it in your n6 and call up vz and say you want the sim added to your account. thats all (well thats all i did).

another issue people are speaking about is needing to reset the phone. i had to do this because for some reason when i switched it from global to lte i couldnt switch it back to global and at that point it wouldnt work with the vz sim and only an att sim was working for me.

also everyone is correct, if you already have an activated nano sim on vz regardless of what phone/manufacturer/device it will work.

if youve ever called vz to switch 4g devices they specifically say just swap the sim into the other phone, their system handles the rest.

Hope this helps..
