Google Nexus 6 on Verizon

Re: Still can't use the nexus 6 on VZW

Also you need to remove visual voice mail from your account, and just use basic voice mail. On the Nexus 6 you need to dial in to get voice mail (*86). You can do this online only. I tried using the My Verizon app, and you cant choose basic voice mail.

Youll get the sim throw it in your n6 and call up vz and say you want the sim added to your account. thats all (well thats all i did).

Don't you need to activate the SIM in another phone prior to putting it in the N6?

That or use Google Voice for voicemail. If you do that, you can get visual voicemail (requires you enable it in the GV and Dialer apps)

He is a frequent poster here that works for Verizon. I sent him a PM yesterday, and he responded saying "so far, nothing from Verizon."

Joe has been the best source of Verizon info that I have seen on these boards, so I would say at this point, there is nothing in their system that points to availability. This makes me doubt the prior reports.

If your asking me it was online. Which I give slightly more credit than the store and slightly less than support, but still in the realm of conjecture at best or total [inappropriate language edited by Moderator] at worst.

Did not mean to impugn you cjp -- just commenting on the likelihood that the reps folks are talking too are full of it. I appreciate the reports. Like all of us here, I keep hoping that these rumors pan out, so I hope you and other are right and got good info.

Well I'm just guessing here but what do we have to lose. Verizon releases on Thursdays and they are CDMA like cellular so they should be almost done. I predict stock for nexus 6 tomorrow or next Thursday max.

I wish they would just release something information wise. Seems there are a few of us on the fence between the 6 and a Turbo.

Re: Finally found out when Verizon is going to come out with the Nexus 6.

True. I don't think anybody actually uses vz nav haha. I have cm10 on my gs3 and really enjoyed the lack of Samsung and verizon crap.

Re: Verizon VoLTE

I am interested to know this as well. Did anyone else hear the date of December 13 that Verizon would announce the Nexus 6 on their network?

Re: Finally found out when Verizon is going to come out with the Nexus 6.

I am using the Turbo right now, got a friend that works for Moto letting me try it out. I just bought a Nexus 6 last night as well through Moto's site. Not sure if I should keep the 6 or keep the Turbo.

The t-mobile version works straight out of the box on big red. I would assume all model are the same. My brother bought a "Sprint" model from Amazon and is currently running on Verizon with zero issues.

What are the pro's and con's?

I had the Turbo for 2 weeks, and the Nexus for the past week. I'm keeping the Nexus with some trepidation because of battery life. Keep in mind that the Turbo might get yet better in that dept once it gets 5.0, while with the N what I'm seeing is what I've got.

The Turbo gave me over 6 SOT with 24 battery life. I'm just about able to get 5 SOT with 14 hours on the N6. I'm not that heavy a user, but wanted to work both phones hard so I'd know how they compare. I don't want to husband battery when I'm out hiking or visiting a big city for the day and away from my chargers, which made me lean strongly towards the Turbo. OTOH, if I'm doing those things, I shouldn't be spending 5 hours looking at a damn phone. And if I did, my wife/kids would be well within their rights to brain me.

In every other regard, the N6 is a phone I love, while the Turbo is one I like "a lot". It depends, of course, on how you'll use the phone. I've generally reserved used my phone as a communication device, and the Turbo is perfect for that. When I want something to entertain myself, like on a plane, I've brought my N7 along. The N6 would serve both of those purposes, provided the battery holds up. Note the circular reasoning: If it wasn't so versatile, I would bring my tablet. Trying to use it instead of my tablet puts me up against the battery limitation. The worst case is that I I'll carry my tablet on a plane like I would if I kept the Turbo. And the N6 should get me out of the house and home on a single charge.

So:
  • Size. The Turbo has a generous screen. Until you get the N6 in your hand. Then, it's puny.
  • Shape: The Turbo has some rounding, but is predominantly a box. The Nexus' curved back fits my hand shape like a glove. Personal preference, but I simply love holding it.
  • Screen size: Using the N6 as a browser is nearly as comfortable as using my N7. I often don't bother finding my tablet if I start browsing on the phone at home. The Turbo works perfectly well as a phone. It's great for browsing, don't get me wrong, but not to the level of the N. I wouldn't want to use it to do more than bide the time waiting for a meeting, etc.

Hope this helps. Feel free to ask me questions. BTW, I'm not much into the cameras, so that didn't even enter my calculation.

I am in the same boat. I have had the turbo for about 2 weeks and love it. I got the 6 today and just setting it up. It looks amazing but the 6 is one beautiful phone.

The 6 is on Sprint and the Turbo is on Verizon. That may ultimately make the decision for me

Another poster on reddit said he spoke with a Verizon rep yesterday and he confirmed it was dropping today. We'll see!

Would be awesome but it's hard to believe with the lack of leaks. There hasn't been anything other then the word of Verizon reps and that's odd
