Google Nexus 6 on Verizon

Re: Nexus 6 Working on Verizon Out of the Box.

Now all the conspiracy theorists can take a seat..

Re: Nexus 6 pre-register pages live on all major carriers but Verizon?

I am debating on whether picking up the N6 with Tmo or stay with my current provider VZW. VZW has been discounting my plan as well as doubling my plan from 3gb to 6gb per month at no cost. They keep giving me these perks while I was just on the brink of going to Tmo for the N6. How do they know!! lol

I don't want to deal with the delayed updates from VZW anymore and their crap service, but if they keep giving me all of these benefits, I might stay a bit longer and pick up the N6 with VZW instead. Any thoughts? I know its hard to say right now cause nobody can really confirm how the N6 will function with VZW yet. "What would you do..."

Funny is I'm debating doing the reverse! Was on VZW 2 yrs ago and now finding the grass isn't always greener on the other side. Sure I've been saving about $50/month on TMO vs. VZW, but man, [language]"bad" coverage along I85/I75 when we do 2-3 family trips a year. Even around town in Atlanta, signal strength in some buildings are crappy. Dunno....At least I know I can get the N6 in-store at TMO, but just the signal service kills me....Hmmm

That was the only issue with Tmo they dont always have the best signal strength. Tough decision, at least we have a few weeks to decide haha

you get what you pay for with tmo. They have improved their coverage, but still in many areas are lacking. If you're looking to save some money, cricket is a solid option and you get att network. Because no matter how awesome a phone is, if you don't get a signal it's not really that useful.

Re: voice and data

I have Advanced Calling 1.0 on my GS5. It cannot be used to call any number. I cannot use VOLTE to call a land line, etc.
Despite being 2 different features as you note, they are bundled together with Verizon.

That's not how it works on my friends iPhone 6 on Verizon. Maybe it's implemented differently on phones with only a single antenna?

Yes, I think that is the point. I'm not sure what the IPhone has for antennas , but with a single antenna, I think things are limited on CDMA carriers.

Re: Nexus 6 Working on Verizon Out of the Box.

Would have just used my prepaid T-mo sim until Verizon got their act together if I couldn't use it on my Verizon line straight away, but this is even better. Super psyched...now if they can just get my preorder here sooner than 11/21!

The iPhone 6 has a single antenna like the Moto X, Droid Turbo and Nexus 6 and also only gets voice and data at the same time when VoLTE is enabled but when it is you can call any number while still using data it's just HD Voice that doesn't work.

That is good news then, if it works the same way for Android phones. Maybe there is hope..

A question about upgrading to Nexus 6

I have an upgrade on Verizon, I was thinking of following 2 ways 2 use it to get a Nexus 6.

1. buy N6 from Verizon when available.
cons - it will not be the Play store version

2. use upgrade for an iPhone 6+. Then sell it and buy N6 from Play Store
pros - get unlocked N6
cons - will cost more since N6 is not going to be $300 on contract

Is it easy to sell the iPhone for full price without any hassle? Since I have no plans to leave Verizon it seems to me that #2 is a better option, thoughts?

I also want to keep my current unlimited plan, is the Best Buy trick to upgrading still working?

Re: A question about upgrading to Nexus 6

If you use your upgrade to get N6 at a subsidized price they will force you out of your UDP. If you are going to pay full price you can just get it from the playstore. Or get it in store. Only difference will be perhaps some Verizon cosmetics & perhaps a little bloat ware that can easily be dealt with once it's rooted. Idk if the Best Buy loophole still will work or not.

Re: Nexus 6 pre-register pages live on all major carriers but Verizon?

Great coverage is the reason I will be staying with Verizon. I don't want to have to be concerned about not having coverage with LTE anywhere I go. With Verizon the coverage is solid and I consistently see 20-30 mbps.

I was very concerned that the video showing the phone working on Verizon never showed 4G LTE data since the person said they did not get 4G service. Without testing the high speed data we really do not know if the Nexus 6 fully works on the Verizon network.

Re: Nexus 6 on VERIZON

The video on droid life showed a 4g LTE connection...

Re: voice and data

Just read the FAQ on Verizon regarding VoLTE. It looks like when you are on a 4G call, and drive into a 3G area (or walk into an area at work where I only get 3G, which happens all the time), you will drop the call. So now I'm torn between getting the Nexus with its large screen and pure Android and dealing with constant dropped calls, or the Note 4, which will feel slow a year from now, but I can actually use the freaking phone reliably.... :(

Re: A question about upgrading to Nexus 6

I wouldn't assume that there are two different versions.

Re: voice and data

Are the problems with simultaneous voice and data limited to certain carriers? More specifically, is it a problem with AT&T?

Re: Nexus 6 on VERIZON

Some people are reporting that Verizon won't carry this till late Jan/Feb. If thats true then this is even worse than we thought.
