Google Shamu: Motorola Nexus 6 (Nexus X)

Wow.. what a beast of a phone..... Already running justification in my head on paying $650+ for this sucker.... I had originally said all along $500 was my ceiling... Now I am thinking to myself.... "Selling my Nexus 5 for $200 and $100 for my Nexus 7, 2013 means it's REALLY only $350... Oh and this time I swear.... I am keeping this one for two full years before I upgrade again." ;)

Lots of folks over at their forums talk about issues with stability regarding certain tasks. They had a big OTA update that was supposed to help with a lot of issues though. For what length of time did you use one?
I had two OnePluses. Used them for more than 2 months I believe. But sold both to get the Moto X, because the previous Moto X is fav phone, I prefer it being a bit smaller and have better signal quality and LTE coverage. The OnePlus signal was decent, but not excellent like Motorola. I do miss the camera quality of the OnePlus which is excellent.

One thing that is true is I didn't have to RMA the phone or had to deal with their customer service, which didn't seem to have very good reputation.

T-Mo's version is priced at $649 for the 64GB version.

Little disappointed by price, since assuredly the 64 GB version will clock in around $699+ but I'm still getting one. Quite excited. Lack of wireless charging is rather concerning though.

Nexus 6: 159 x 82.98 x 10.06 mm ( 6.26 x 3.27 x 0.36 in)
Dimensions, here are the Note 4's for comparison
Note 4: 153.5 x 78.6 x 8.5 mm (6.04 x 3.09 x 0.33 in)

Definitely big but not by much. I think I'll be okay with it.

For $650 the least they could do is include Moto software features and sensors, but no. Its literally nothing more than a bigger Moto X.

So what do we reckon for the UK price? How does this work? A conversion of around £400-450 or will it be £650? I'm fine with the £450 but £650 would be insane.

Again, those features are exclusive and reserved for Moto phones, this phone is not part of that group.

Google still owns Motorola, and most certainly did when this phone was developed. There's no reason they couldn't add those features. Its a Moto phone sold by Google.

Maybe them guys at lenovo got involved and told them to fu*k off

Not really.. It's a "Google" phone that happens to be built by Motorola. I have a 89 AscMclaren built by Ford, because it didn't roll of the line as a completed car.. It had to be sold as a McClaren not a Ford Mustang.

To the people who are complaining about this phone being 650 being overpriced. Look at the price of all flagships.

With regards to the moto software, here is what I think will happen. It's a nexus device, it should come preloaded with the moto suit of software, however that does not limit moto from developing and making these apps compatible with the phone that u can download a seperately install from the play store if the user wants them... Another thing we also should consider, Google bought a lot of patents from moto in the deal, so Google could have made its own version of that software that has yet to be revealed. However I would place my bets u could install them from the play store.

I don't think the actual issue is the cost relative to the specs. The issue is that there has been a massive Nexus discount for the last few years, and that discount just got slashed.

Well just about everyone I see complaining about the cost is because the specs apparently aren't up to par for this phone.
