Google Shamu: Motorola Nexus 6 (Nexus X)

Its amazing people are willing to pay $500 for a phone that costs much less to make. There are tons of Chinese oem's like Xiaomi who make exceptional phones with great specs for 1/2 the price of what phones sell in the West for. If Oppo can make the One+ for $300, and even if they sell it at cost, its not like they've cut corners to make it, a giant company like Google, with huge economies of scale, certainly can, and have in the past, which is who the N5 was $350.

If they can afford it, y not. The top end iPhone 6 Plus is 949$ n bunch of people r lining up to plunk their money. The Nexus 5 @349$ was for the 16GB, the 32GB was 399$. what can you do with 16GB without external storage option.

Even if Shamue is £400 its still way cheaper than the almost identical specced Note 4. Add to that it'll have an unlocked boitloader, the latest version of Android and a massive amount of Roms and kernels, its a definite winner.

I've "been through" my fair share of Chinese phones and I wouldn't go back.

A friend of mine who's worked for Sprint for a long time just sent me a text this morning saying it was going to start at $419 for a 32 gig model.... but offered no actual proof and didn't say that Sprint would carry it or not (I asked and he said he had not seen or heard anything in regards to a version that would work on Sprint).... Just what he's "Been told" so take that with a massive pinch of salt.....

Would be weird if sprint didn't carry it. They've had them all except the Nexus One. That's good news tho. It must be getting closer

Nexus One and Nexus 4....... They were both just GSM phones....

Last year he told me ahead of time Sprint would have the Nexus 5..... He just said he had not seen or heard of a Sprint version (yet)

Again take it all with a grain of salt.... Wouldn't shock me at all if Google was just putting "Feelers" out there on pricing and the final sell price could change or he could be completely wrong.... He also said he was told they were going to be on sale before October was over.... again SALT!!!!

Did he say if that price was through the carrier or on the Play store? Also has he heard about any of the specs? Like wireless charging?

The Wall Street Journal article has "insiders" that tell them its launching this month.

I asked because Wireless charging is something I REALLY hope this big boy has...... But NOTHING on Specs.... He said he has not seen the device outside of the regular rumored leaked pictures on the internet.. Has not seen any literature or manual on the device... I've actually bugged and asked him if he'd seen or heard anything for about a month now and he's always told me "Nothing yet." and this morning he just sent me a text that said "N6, starting $419, 32 Gig by the end of the month."

All my follow up questions were answered with "I don't know" except the $419 was going to be Google direct pricing (I would assume unlocked GSM)

That is not a bad price at all for the specs and 32GB. I would guess $469 if they have a 64GB version. And I am with you in that I would really like this to have wireless charging. I have a feeling this will just drop without any notification just like the N5 last year. Going to be interesting rest of the month I hope....

I'd have to guess it will have Qi wireless since Google is said to be well invested in that wireless charging technology.... I know with my N7 and N5 I've invested in 3 TYLT wireless charging stands.... so I'd hate for them to go to waste or storage for now..

Only thing I can say about the $419 is the more and more I look at it $419 feels weird.... I don't know why but $399 and $449 would have looked better....

and yes at $419 - 469 price point I'd be super happy.... My top end was $499 - 549 depending on actual specs and storage...

I agree that the price point is extremely odd. I think, hopefully, that it is indeed $399 and $449 like you stated. And I hope that Google is staying vested in wireless charging as it seems like a no brainer. Just put your device on the pad and forget it. Nothing to break off inside the device.

I'd be okay with $449 and $499...... That was my "DREAM" pricing points... Anything less is just gravy really..... Considering I read the Note 4 unlocked was "ON SALE" for $850 vs $899.........

Yeah nothing to break off or wear out over time.... Cable and port.... LOVE wireless charging pad...

All I know is between the Nexus 9 and Nexus 6, my bank account is going to be a whole lot lighter by November (assuming rumors are true and both are available for pre-order this month).

The 449/499 are the price points I'm guessing as well.

lol... The main reason I was so excited about the Nexus 6 being 5.9 was so I could migrate away from having a tablet anymore.....

I will be owing a 6. But the 9, I will have to pass. I don't like 4:3 aspect ratio and Nvidia scares me. Their battery life and chipsets have not been the best. I hope it does well, but is just not for me.
