Gorillaglass this AINT!

You are correct the nexus doesn't have gorilla glass. Its a different polymer.
Didn't Samsung say that the Galaxy nexus will not have gorilla glass.

Well I had my og droid drop on concrete and watched it slide with nothing wrong on the screen. I had that phone for over a year with nothing. Same with droid 2 and 3 and x and i already have 3 small scratches on this phone which only goes in my pocket alone so say whatever you want but this clearly scratches more easily than gg imho after having numerous phones with gg with not a thought of a scratch and now have to put a protector on this phone which tells me something is up with the glass and is not my fault. Not saying its crap just is more susceptible in my experience.

Yeah, mine got run over by a car and didn't have a mark on it.

I dropped my OG Droid face down on concrete and it was destroyed. Fifty dollar replacement. Glossy screen protectors here. A fall is a fall and since I live in a sandy environment the small particles will destroy any screen.

Good quality screen protectors will run $15-20. The reason you think yours sucks is because at that price it probably does. Do yourself a favor next time and spend a bit more and get a steinheil or equivalent.

Don't those leave a sort of orange peel affect? I know the Shield ones do.

Nope. Steinheil Ultra Series are dry application protectors. Smooth as glass, feels like glass, and looks just like the regular screen. 99% of people I show my phone to don't even realize there's a protector on there.

I tried the Steinheil and threw both of them out. Had bubble or mark problems, felt like plastic, and produced way more fingerprints than the screen.

If you had a bubble on the screen after applying the protector, it was the way you applied it. Don't blame the product, blame the user applying the product.
Make sure the screen is perfectly clean and work out any bubbles before you take the protective top layer off. Never had one issue applying any screen protector, from verizon to steinheil ultras to phone devils, they just glide right on.

I used the steinheil wet app. full screen fit (not sure if they fixed this, but was reading previous reports that it didn't run to the edges. I have no bubbles, no dust. Put it on in a steamy bathroom and clean off all the dust carefully. I know it is there, but it looks exactly the same as the naked screen I had for 3 weeks. It does make fingerprints easier though. I can live with that.

To those trying to explain hardness and actual science, don't bother. People who are intelligent will educate themselves and understand. Those who aren't..., well nobody can force you to learn new things. Anecdotal evidence means absolutely nothing vs. actual statistics. The reality is, you could do a side by side comparison with a bunch of different grades of hardened steel and various ceramics, and the GG would scratch with the exact same substances as the proprietary glass the Nexus is using. It's like "medical grade" super glue. If the name makes you believe it works better, then by all means use the one that makes you feel better.

Yep, they really are ridiculously easy to do. Not sure how its possible to screw them up.

Hardness physics concept is simple. A harder item will scratch a less hard item.

So don't put any items harder than your phone and its coating near it.

really one should just find out the hardness value of gorilla glass and our screens. Problem solved. No sense in reinventing the wheel or talking about it to no end.

So following physics if you could find a way to rub the two screens together to see who scratches...

Well, yeah, if you screw up putting it on, but then all you have to do is peel it up, clean it, and put it back down.

How does one "clean up" a dry application protector? I know the instructions always claim you can just rinse them off with water, but then you either have to put it back on while wet -- which I did once and wound up with water spots when the water dried -- or it sucks up more dust while waiting to dry.

I'm still a big fan of dry application protectors myself, I just always get a 3-pack at minimum because I haven't found an effective way to clean up a screwed up application.

It was the Ultra. And I was extremely careful.

It did not feel like glass at all and the phone is 10x more fingerprint resistant than the screen protector.

Impossible to get bubbles? Then why do they give you instructions on how to get them out.

They are over hyped.

Which steinheil, because it obviously wasn't the ultra series. Those feel like glass and are impossible to get bubbles in because they're dry application protectors.

The first one I attempted to put on I used the stickers to pull it off and clean it up. All that accomplished was ruining the screen protector.

The second time I got it on with a minimal mark and a small bubble that I could do nothing about. I kept it on for a day and the feel and fingerprints annoyed me so much I threw it away.

Sometimes I suspect the people who recommend these and post that "no one could screw them up" and "they feel like glass" work there.

Saying "no one could screw one up" is insulting and demeaning.

As far as I'm concerned I'll never buy one of that brand again. And I strongly doubt I'll ever use a screen protector again.

Will look into that. I've seen only the wet application versions and they look horrible.

Face it....scratches are weird and seem not to abide by any known laws if physics.

Before I got the Charge I had the screen protector off for about 2 weeks on my Galaxy Indulge and had no problems at all; it looked so much better so I decided to not put one on the Charge.
Now, I had a belt holster and did not let one person touch my phone and by the 3rd day...BAMM...there was a scratch. Of course I claimed the phone was defective and got a new one at once and got a screen protector.

A couple months ago I sent my phone to Samsung for a tune up and they returned it sans protector.
Shortly after that my belt holster broke (now i just keep it in my pocket....alone) and I dropped the damn thing.
I haven't been capable of babying so much cause I'm usually very busy and use my phone for work for multiple reasons. Not one scratch (as I knock on wood). I don't get it. I'm not too sure if the Charge has gorilla glass, I sure as hell know the Indulge didn't.

Scratches happen...they are phantom in nature...there's no way to explain it.

They tell you to use included stickers to get dust. If you're careful it shouldn't be a problem.

Obviously not careful enough. I've installed dozens of them and never had a problem. If it didn't feel like glass, I don't know, do you put it on backwards? Bubbles slide right out very easily. If you couldn't get it out then you must have gotten something on there because you weren't working with a clean screen.

I don't work for them. I've just used about a dozen different brands and Steinheil is the best I've come across with the easiest application. Every person I have shown it too, including my techie friends, are amazed by it. Most people that bash screen protectors have only seen rubbery garbage like Zagg, or cheap dry protectors like they sell at the carrier store.

I'm sorry you had such trouble installing. Maybe give Ghost Armor a shot and let them install it at one of their kiosks.

That is extremely odd. Call the protector manufacturer

I've had the Stenheil Ultra on my DInc for 1.5 years. Best protector I have had...it's not invincible, but it truly has invisible up until it finally scratched. And the screen remains pristine underneath it.
