Gorillaglass this AINT!

Go run to the Vzw store and tell them that your phone is bootlooping and that you've factory reset it twice with no luck. They extended their return policy for the holidays until 1/15/12. Get a new device and put a screen protector on it. The protectors for the GN are nice. They are glossy and feels like nothing is there. Some are thick and make the screen dull but the ones that i bought with my accessory bundle are not.

That would be very dishonest and douchey of someone to do. Remember, when you return and/or exchange a device, somebody somewhere gets penalized for it. Whether it be the sales reps at the store who are trying to make their monthly numbers and keep returns to a minimum, or further along when somebody else gets that device as a "refurbished" device only to find the screen has been scratched because the factory only attempted to fix the "bootlooping" lie that was told.

Now if your device is hardware defective, that's one thing. But why should you punish someone else for your shortsightedness? It's your fault and your lack of responsibility for protecting your own belongings. I used to work retail and I gotta tell you, I hated people that would do that .

Wow....guess there's always people out there trying to screw someone. It wasn't Verizon's fault the device was scratched but the end user's. Its a faint scratch. The OP should slap a screen protector on it, deal with it, and chalk it up as a lesson learned.

My og Droid had a scratch on it. Had it for a year with no problems. Went to sanibel island in florida, pulled it out of my pocket at the beach and lo and behold a freaking scratch! Sand! Gaaaaaaa! Believe me or not I don't care.

OG Droid naked for two years. Traveled in jeans with nothing else in them. I live right by the beach. Not a scratch.

Bionic for a few months. Same thing, no scratches.

Nexus since it came out - naked, no scratches.

Tried a screen protector and hated it. Never again.

Recently bought the Silicon Case for it because it is a slippery device and dropping it is a possibility.

Nah, I am going to live with my scratch. Despite the fact that I have had my Droid X for 2 years in the same Coach purse side pocket (silk lining if anyone wants to know) with NOTHING else in that pocket, this phone got scratched up in under a month. I have not been near the beach, sand, diamonds or any other thing. I simply think the screen is not made of the same quality that my Droid X was, and I only posted this to warn others before it's too late.

As a matter of fact, now my 12yo daughter is sporting the Droid X deep in her gigantic backpack and she too has absolutely no scratches on it after 2 months of tossing it into the backpack with 3 textbooks, 2 spiral binders, keys, pens, pencils and whatever else a preteen carries around each day. I definitely wouldn't be able to do this with the GNex.

Maybe someday I will get a warranty exchange if something truly does go wrong with the phone (I always get the protection on all the phones), but for now, I love my GNex and fortunately the scratch is not in a really disturbing location.

Next time I get a phone though, I am most definitely going to lean towards one that has GG on it. Just a personal preference since I truly hate screen protectors...

Judging it like that because you got one scratch is ridiculous. Now, if you start to notice several showing up, judge all you want. Did you check that pocket with a magnifying glass every time you slipped your phone in there? Sometimes, even though we try our hardest to protect them, phones get blemishes. If you don't have a screen protector or case on it, you don't really have room to complain. My wife has a Fascinate, which doesn't have gorilla glass as far as I know, and there isn't a scratch on it. She isn't throwing it in a silk lined Coach bag (thanks for bragging, by the way), but rather a huge diaper bag with who knows what floating around in there. Not a single scratch. I would bet that the glass there is similar, if not identical, to what we have on the Nexus.

I'm normally not so blunt, so I apologize, but this just struck a nerve with me.

ACTUALLY you should look into the otter box defender. The built in screen protector has somewhat of a tint so you will likely not notice the scratch. If you didn't like that try an anti glare screen protector, those tend to hide scratches as well.

There are many different qualities of screen protectors. The best feel like glass and are nearly impossible to notice unless pointed out. Do not pass judgement on all screen protectors because of one crappy one.

It is fortified glass and has the same demo videos out there showing it holding up to the same things as GG. You don't need to go to the beach to come I to contact with grit that will scratch any glass screen, including GG, it is everywhere, including your coach bag apparently. All those things that you listed in your daughters bag aren't hard enough to scratch regular glass, let alone GG. And, as stated earlier, there are some really amazing quality screen protectors out there. Don't judge based on experience with cheapie Verizon ones, or crappy Zagg

I just put on a screen protector I bought for 10 bucks. It sucks and it leaves more oil stains than the actual glass but who cares. It comes with 3 so I'll replace it every 2 months. I don't care what gorilla you own, it will scratch (it just might be a nano scratch) and I love this phone, even though I have a Best Buy warranty, I still want to preserve it.

Good quality screen protectors will run $15-20. The reason you think yours sucks is because at that price it probably does. Do yourself a favor next time and spend a bit more and get a steinheil or equivalent.

You are totally right. This whole thread is about me and my 6 year old Coach bag and bragging rights. :-$:-\

anybody opposed to a screen protector has not tried the SGP (steinheil) Crystal or Oleophobic protectors. the crystal is like glass. you guys should give them a try.

Another mean comment was here, but I've decided that I'm better than that. Sorry for being negative.

I tried the Steinheil and threw both of them out. Had bubble or mark problems, felt like plastic, and produced way more fingerprints than the screen.

Which steinheil, because it obviously wasn't the ultra series. Those feel like glass and are impossible to get bubbles in because they're dry application protectors.

You could get bubbles if your not really careful getting all the dust off of your screen

Well, yeah, if you screw up putting it on, but then all you have to do is peel it up, clean it, and put it back down.

Well I had my og droid drop on concrete and watched it slide with nothing wrong on the screen. I had that phone for over a year with nothing. Same with droid 2 and 3 and x and i already have 3 small scratches on this phone which only goes in my pocket alone so say whatever you want but this clearly scratches more easily than gg imho after having numerous phones with gg with not a thought of a scratch and now have to put a protector on this phone which tells me something is up with the glass and is not my fault. Not saying its crap just is more susceptible in my experience.
