The keyboard is becoming ever more frustrating to use.
Thumbing out long messages, especially more serious ones (like to colleagues or coworkers or generally someone important), is an exercise in frustration.
I type very fast (habit gained from my blackberry days) and the frequency of the keyboard to miss presses and the space bar is hard to believe. I've used these examples before, but constantly words end up like ths or tis or likethis -- and these mistakes are littered throughout. Before you ask if I'm actually hitting the keys or not, I am. How am I sure? The pop up preview.
Also troublesome and equally frustrating is the opposite issue, where it'll constantly register unintentional double hits. This almost always happens with the first letter of a word. Examples would be like tthis.
So my messages end up looking like this in general: "Hey Tom I'm ggoing to belate ffor the meting. Please goahead and start withot me." You get the idea. (Those who know me know I'm not interested in starting immature flame wars, but I've never had such glaring typos and issues when typing on an iPhone, or even on an iPod Touch.)
This happens especially with the stock keyboard, but also with Better Keyboard 8, and to a lesser degree, Smart Keyboard Pro. (I'm not a fan of Swype nor Swiftkey). Also, the lack of custom auto-corrections with the stock keyboard and Better Keyboard 8 are a real shame. It makes the world of a difference having that feature as you build a library of custom corrections (like if you're prone to typing "km" instead of "I'm" you could create a custom auto correction to have every "km=I'm". Sorely missing in stock keyboard and BK8).
I know I am not alone and have read/heard others experiencing the same issue from people who also thumb out messages fast. This is growing into a great concern...
