Guess I'm going to leave AT&T if we don't get 5.1.1 by the end of the month.

I was reading through all the threads about 5.1.1 and it seems people are having a lot of battery draining issues. If this is the case, I'm happy just to stick with this current version.

I bet we jump straight to 6.0

When I was on my s5 active that's what happened when we went from kitkat to lollipop. We were an update behind then had both updates back to back

mine is one that works fine on 5.0.2. Not sure 5.1.1 would make a difference so no biggie for me

I think some talked to at&t and they stated the Active should be getting 5.1.1 by early November. With all att rollouts you can bet there will be issues. The price you pay be getting an att branded phone. The only reason I got this phone over a nexus is the larger battery. I'm tired of wasting time reading forums and rooting and romming. If they ever come out with a nexus that I like I will get one. So far I've been happy with this phone and thank god for package disabler.

I've had the phone since release without issue. I use package disabler, so this may help. I've never been too impressed with any of the Android updates, so I'm not concerned. In fact, I may refuse the update. My previous phone, the Galaxy Note 4, worked great until it was updated to Lollipop. With Lollipop, the Note 4 became terribly slow and laggy. My only issue with the Active is that it will likely never be rooted. I don't care for custom ROMs, but I find having root access to be very useful.

Ikr? I really love to have adblock and xposed on mine, you can block ad even on app which is really make it into a new world. I don't like custom rom either, since now stock is much usable compare to the past when they're slow and need improvement.

I had too lazy behavior. Clearing the cache help for a couple of weeks. I had to let him go because he did not play well, with my 3G microcell home. 64GB N6p preorder.

Yeah, there are plenty of people that have taking it underwater and have had much success taking photos and not experiencing any issues. I guess I'm one of the unfortunate ones that have experienced issues when the phone was in or around water. Maybe some of the Active units were not sealed properly or maybe something changed along the manufacturing process. We don't know. All I know is that I never abused my phone, or subjected it to conditions more extreme than IP68 describes.

If anyone calls Samsung customer support and attempts to file a warranty ticket because the phone stops working or misbehaves after being under water, they will be told that water damage is NOT covered under warranty. I had to talk to level 2 customer support and executive consumer relations to get the device repaired which is discouraging. Samsung should stand by their product and be prepared to accept these claims on water resistant devices without questions.

Still enjoying my active very much.

Only had my S6A for two weeks or so back in July. Had zero issues with lag, freezing & the battery was amazing.
Only sold it because I could make $100.

Not sure about the 5.0 L updates. But I did look on the list a couple weeks back for the phones that Samsung was going to update to Marshmallow & the Active(G890) was not on it.

Also, the glass on this unit is no different than the regular S6 variants nor was specifically marketed to be any stronger. The only
addition it has is a slight raised edge around the bezel that provides a little protection.

I wouldn't put too much stock in this. It seems like nobody in AT&T knows exactly what is going on with the Active. I have heard people on XDA who got response from a FCC complaint that AT&T had given up on releasing 5.1.1 for the S6 Active. But then, there are people who said they got AT&T reps to say that 5.1.1 is coming before Nov. Basically, the current state of 5.1.1 for the Active is a shake of a magic 8 ball...

There is a recent article that mentioned that 6.0 is coming to the Active, even if it may be slower than the regular S6: AT&T’s Samsung Galaxy S6 Active Android 6.0 Marshmallow Update : Trending News : Venture Capital Post

Up to you how much you believe that site...

Well it is just one site, it will be nice if Samsung actually confirms it, but I believe the Active will get 6.0 eventually. Its not without precedent for a manufacturer to skip a minor version, but Active should be good for one major update. Its less that I'm worried about it getting 6.0 and wondering why they skipped 5.1.1. for it.

I did do a factory reset on my phone. I also didn't restore all my apps. I am just installing apps as I need them. So far the Active is running much better. No lag at all so far. Running very nice. Not happy with how much free space the phone starts with, but thats Samsung for you. 7.11 GB used. The Nexus 6P only uses 4 GB. Makes me wish the Active came with 64GB. Maybe TouchWiz with 6.0 will be a bit smaller.

In my experience, AT&T has always been LAT of the four, to update any of my Samsungs.

I would leave AT&T and I did recently, but the updates wouldn't be the top reason.

"My only issue with the Active is that it will likely never be rooted. I don't care for custom ROMs, but I find having root access to be very useful."

Why?

Disabling bloat for one thing. Also you can find out what is draining your battery of you are having a drain issue, when rooted. I haven't loaded custom ROMs when rooted ever.

Don't really find a need to root anymore. I'm done with custom ROMS since none of them ever work without some sort of weird quirk. Not to mention I had 2 scares of almost bricking my Galaxy S3 and LG G2 doing things I shouldn't.

As for bloat? Meh, don't really care about that. Any performance difference I had with debloating in my previous phones wasn't noticeable to the naked eye. I don't store music or pics so the space isn't a big deal.

I believe the Package Disabler Pro app lets you disable most bloatware now.

Yes Package Disabler will let you remove bloat on Samsungs, you can't use wake lock detector or advanced battery monitor issues without rooting.

I just hope they will push 5.1.1 instead. 6.0 mean my Packaging Disabler will not function or take time to update for functional.

Though I'm not sure, this kind of app may need a source code from Samsung to function properly as it intercede into system (it can disable system app). Samsung had known for their extremely slow speed (if not at all) when releasing source code, so I think it may prevent developer to update the app once they get into 6.0. There is an article in XDA talking about this (Samsung, Exynos and AOSP Explained: A Story of Betrayal)
