Guess I'm going to leave AT&T if we don't get 6.0 by the end of the month.

Hey,

I just bought this phone and I have intentions of keeping it for the next couple of years. Does anyone know if this phone would probably receive android version updates after MM and I'm also quite surprised to see there are no custom ROMs for the phone anyway, is there any reason why that might be??

Thanks,

Roberto

Enjoy the phone Robbo...its a great device! Going by history, (What's supposed to happen with the S5 Active), one would expect the S6 Active to receive another major update to Android N next year. I don't expect the S5 Active to see Android N, but I'm no insider. It seems that if the phone is around or less than 2 years old, it will likely see an update.

Its all speculation though. We're very close to the release of the S7 Active and Android N will be out this fall. So we should expect to see Android N on both the S7Active and S6Active right around the release of the S8 Active next year.....(if they make one). I wouldn't be surprised if they discontinued the active line and just made an Active Case w/ camo

Thanks for the quick reply Law! I'm also wondering how effective the waterproofing of the phone is??? You hear a lot of people saying its rubbish, but also a lot of people saying its amazing so I'm just really confused why people hold such mixed opinions about it.

BTW I come from the UK and I'm importing the phone from America, so I won't be able to handle the phone for the next couple of weeks :(

There are a few threads discussing the S6 Active's resistance to water, what the IP68 means, and owners' results from exposing the device to water. Personally, I am one that took the phone to a water park and exposed it to some sprinklers and rides and ended up with water damage. Others have taken the device completely under water and taken some cool photos with no issue. I think its safe to say the device is resistant to water, but don't go out of your way to test the limits.

Also, being out of the US, I'm not sure how close you are to a repair center (or if there is one in the UK). Still, I stand by my original statement that the S6 Active is a great phone. I enjoy using it.

I agree 100%
I let my Active get splashed on but I don't go swimming with it.

The S7 Active is out! AT&T please release the Marshmallows for the S6 active.

Count me in as one who has taken underwater pics with my S6 Active with no issues. I will say the one time I plugged it in the charge while it was wet made it freak out. I unplugged it and let it sit overnight and had no more issues.

I have taken it underwater and taken pictures and videos also without any problems. Just let the ports dry out before plugging anything in or get the rubber plugs for the headphone and micro usb ports for when you go in the water.

I don't get how some people have problems and some people don't?? Like its the same phone??

Too many unknown variables. Have any of these phones been dropped before which could cause issues with the water resistance.

That and any mass manufactured item, there are going to be some that just aren't as good as the rest.

The only issue I'm having right now is that Samsung Pay isn't working. I'm not getting any error messages, it just looks like the MST is not doing it's thing. I had been using it regularly, until two days ago. I also couldn't get Samsung Pay to work via NFC and got payment declined/not supported messages from terminals that I was trying to use it at.

Now that the S7 Active is released how much longer for Marshmallow for S6A users

It'll be here this week! Guar-un-damn-teed. Monday morning I'm heading into a no cell/no wifi zone, smack dab in the middle of No Freakin' Where. See ya later.........

Well good news for you. Week went by still no update. Guess the wireless and cell service life is waiting for your return, before any update if we get it at all. S5 already has update.

ATT wants us to upgrade to S7A....

ATT wants us to upgrade to S7A....

Seeing as the phone is about a year old, I doubt that. Eligibility for upgrades amongst S6A owners is non-existent at this point, unless they bought the device outright or paid off the device early. There really is nothing in Marshmallow that is a game-changer for 99.9% of the phone users, so there's no point in crying about not having it. The only reason to upgrade to the S7A is that it's the phone the S6A should have been, and that's only something that hardcore enthusiasts would even contemplate doing.
