[GUIDE][8/1] Jelly Bean Now! Resources & Discussion

Re: [GUIDE][7/1] Jelly Bean Now! Resources & Discussion

Also, it's a very nice touch that you can know turn off notifications for individual apps; I was getting so sick of constantly getting annoying pointless notifications from a bunch of games I had on my phone. It's just too bad there's not a quicker, easier way to do it then going through each individual app and disabling the notifications (not only that, but when you uncheck the box, you have to give the okay to an "Are you sure?" type message box, making it a two step process).

Re: [GUIDE][7/1] Jelly Bean Now! Resources & Discussion

oh, ok... i thought all of that was resolved already

For me it appears to be, but honestly, the more and more I read it appears to be very intermittent and can strike at a moment's notice.

For all who have been asking, my current and preferred setup:

So, when you get a text message, isn't the notification for it in the pull down menu supposed to have a button to immediately text back? The one time (so far) I've gotten a text since running JB, it didn't have that, and I had to click the notification and go into the app to answer back, as in previous versions of Android.

Anyway, JB is nice, I like a lot of the little "effects", and whatnot, that they seem to have added. I just hope Apex Launcher updates soon to work with it, as I became a big fan of that launcher, and it feels weird being back on the more limited stock launcher. Also not too crazy about the new persistent search bar, because it stands out too much against my wallpaper; at least with the old ICS search bar, it was just a white border and nothing else, but I'm not too crazy about this big grey very slightly transparent bar at the top of my screen.

Have you tried Nova Launcher? I like it as much or more than Apex now, and it lets you remove the persistent search bar if you want to.

I did briefly when I first installed AOKP, but somewhere along the line, I decided I like Apex more. One thing off the top of my head was that, the free version of Apex allowed you to hide apps in the app drawer, whereas that was only in the paid version of Nova.

i asked a friend with a gnex to test his gps lock. he works a few blocks away from me, so we are both in the concrete jungle of NYC midtown, but he gets perfect lock with a bone stock nexus with vzw 404. not that i have an immediate need of gps or anything, but the idea of something not working is just bugging me :(

It's affecting different devices, no doubt, but it is not the rom--trust me on this :). It's a weird, weird issue for sure, with no readily available explanation.

Gotcha. I think you can hide/disable apps as a default with ICS/JB anyway, or am I wrong on that? I never hide anything, I'm a transparent kinda guy!

But you may want to try it out at least to hide the persistent search bar, depending on how much it bugs you.

Hm. I dunno, I know you can disable apps, but I just want to hide certain ones from my app drawer (for example, ones I already have on my home screens) rather than disable them. Don't think regular Android lets you do that, as far as I know, anyway.

I suppose I might end up doing that. I actually don't mind the idea of the persistent search bar, I just don't like the new look, really.

Where can I get that amazing TARDIS background??

I found it through the Wallbase app. For some reason I can't find it on their website, so I've attached it. Let me know if it's full; if not I can dropbox it or continue searching. Enjoy :).
