[GUIDE][8/1] Jelly Bean Now! Resources & Discussion

Re: [GUIDE][7/12] Jelly Bean Now! Resources & Discussion

Sounds like a new CM10 is coming tonight with a lot more features. I'll probably wait for that and try it. Looked on Rootzwiki and unless I overlooked it I didn't see any mention of Gapps, but I assume you need to flash them? Anything else that needs to be flashed with that ROM?

As of now, just GAPPs. When it loads up, update the SU binary in the SU app and you'll be all settled.

I'm using the 7/15 package from RootzBoat. For some reason, it only installs one Gallery, so I don't need to go in and delete the other.

Be sure to flash GAPPs with the "updated" rom every time you update as well.

Do it anyway, you're just a dirty flash away from an update!

If I had to wager, this afternoon. They seem to post up around 4-6pm.

Fair enough. If my work lets up I'll just flash and then update later, really thought i'd have some downtime this am...

I chose yes for the fix... its saying that a ROM can overwrite recovery to stock, which we wouldn't want, so it writes cwr As permanent. You could always fastboot stock.

Well too late. I just went to go back and it rebooted. If that message ever comes up again though I will click yes

Are you still on stock kernel? I have been instinctual flashing trinity with the roms, possibly considering holding off....

Yes. This has some nice color controls as well, using CM settings for my color (it's under Advanced).

Happened to me at some point when I hit "go back," too. It's fine and you'll get the message again the next time you do a nandroid.

Re: [GUIDE][7/12] Jelly Bean Now! Resources & Discussion

so on the topic of backing up (i know, not really a JB topic).... it seems that CWR 6 has a new way of creating the nandroid, yes? can TiBu read from it properly? i was using AppExtractor and it was working just fine (though i was using it mostly to recover SMS back when google restored my apps).
when i tried to restore SMS from my first CWR6 nandroid, it couldnt recover them. nor could it create a list of APKs for me to restore my apps. im wondering if appextractor would be updated to read this new format? id rather not pay for TiBu after paying for appextractor

Ok, I went ahead and installed CM10. Everything went fine and phone is running just fine, but I can't get any of the extras to work like clock mods, battery percentage, or anything else? Am I missing something?

Gotcha, so are there any mods you can do with it yet? Also, is it confirmed that swiftkey will not work with cm10. It crashes on me when I try to set it up. It's the only app giving me problems.

Swiftkey working fine here. At which step is it crashing specifically and what message are you getting?

When I try to enable it. It them says Unfortunately settings has stopped. I uninstalled and reinstalled and still the same thing. I did a totally clean install of CM10 as well.

Question: These nightlies aren't official CM nightlies right?

Nope; as far as I know the official nightlies have not started. When they do, I'll update my official thread accordingly. These are simply nightlies compiled from their source.

Also, Swiftkey working fine over here.

Damn, I can't figure out why that keeps closing on me. Hope dirty flashing the update tonight might help that app. Who knows.

Actually, if anything, I would suggest making sure you do a clean install. Something in your system data is not happy right now.. you want to clear that sucker out. :)

I did. I came from Jelly Belly. I wiped data, cache, Dalvik, formatted system. Got apps from TIBU. Then I uninstalled and re-installed Swiftkey and still doing it.

Mine was doing that as well. Go into phone settings, language and input and then select swiftkey, then hit the menu button next to it. That should take you back into Swiftkey where it was crashing and let you move forward. At least it worked for me.

Nah yeah I read that part.. but still something is not happy there, so I still recommend a clean install of the next... My money would be on something going wrong with your TiBu restore, btw... but it could have easily been one of a hundred things.
