Has Google Stated If They Will Compensate Play Store Pre-orders?

Re: Has Google Stated If They Will Compensate Play Store Pre-orde

I suppose one could say that "patience is a virtue" and that "all good things come in time", but I guess those are just lies grown ups tell children like me to keep us from complaining.

Call me a sheep, an apologist, or whatever you want. I'm patiently waiting for my pre-order and am still very excited for it.

Re: Has Google Stated If They Will Compensate Play Store Pre-orde

It is all good. I personally just won't pre-order from the play store again just get it from Game stop.

Re: Has Google Stated If They Will Compensate Play Store Pre-orde

Personal insults and immature dickering is not tolerated. Please refrain from using insults in order to vent your frustrations. I'm frustrated too, so I understand why everyone is in arms (from both points of view, actually). But frustration should not and will not lead to members clashing and the conversation devolving to name calling.

Thanks,

Dylan

Maybe some of us live in a small Iowian town where none of the stores have them in stock. Also its not about when we thought we should have them its about that they are being mum as to when we will have them meanwhile retailers are able to sell them

Exactly SIR!!!

Pre Order means before the general public or on the day off via shipping.

PS hope Quinn is having a good weekend :)

Re: Has Google Stated If They Will Compensate Play Store Pre-orde

I really hope that we at least get a credit of some sort on our play store account maybe $10.

Re: Has Google Stated If They Will Compensate Play Store Pre-orde

Ordered my N7 on June 27th at 11:30 AM. It's pretty apparent that Play does not use first in first out for fulfillment.

Those of us that "pre"-ordered and paid for 2-day shipping got punked by Play.

This will be my last Play purchase. What's the point?

Google should do something, but I don't expect cash compensation. Even if UPS dropped the ball it was their chosen vendor for distribution. I work for a telecom company and just because AT&Ts circuit is cut we are still responsible to compensate the customer. We will go to AT&T to compensate us but the customer should not be expected to deal with their providers vendor.

I honestly dont think google will compensate anyone for anything. But then again. Maybe if there are a lot more angry people complaining they might put that shipping cost to credit in the play store. Who knows?

The $25 S&H was to have the N7 hand delivered to you from the play store. You did not have to drive/call all over town looking to secure a tablet. It is being brought directly to you. “But I paid $25 to get it on or before launch day.” You are getting first, from the play store launch. Where does it state for $25 you get it first among ALL lines of distribution? It doesn’t because your agreement is with play. How other outlets are doing business is irrelevant because you did not have an agreement with them.

Sure, don't necessarily disagree. However, this is a google product so you are buying from the company that is distributing the product. You are also forced to buy second day shipping, which I thought was pretty crappy. While they are covered by their terms it still was not handled in the best way. They don't have to do anything, but that doesn't mean they shouldn't.

They probably knew it was mishandled when they told retailers to hold on to their products, but I imagine once people knew they were out there they had bigger problems on their hands. The retailers revealing the units were in stock was probably what caused this whole fiasco. Since my label was printed on July 9th, I think they fully intended on having pre orders delivered on or before retailers.

This is most likely what happened. In the instant info age just that little nugget caused a fire.

I don't want to spam this thread because it's suppose to be if google has released a statement. Sorry for posting in the wrong thread.

We bought two of them off EBay (Thanks, Mr. Anonymous!) and I had to drive two hours both ways to get them at 1am. Fun times.

It was a good thing we did it that way, though, because we don't live in a 3G area and they wouldn't have been sold at local stores.

The site says 2 to 3 weeks. Did Google make a promise to you about the tablet being in your hands first before stores or you will receive the day the stores start selling them as well? Look when I per order a game fro, amazon or GameStop and they state that i will have the game on launch day that's a guarantee. They state this will happen on their site. Did Google state this somewhere? You complainers act like there is some unspoken rule about this receiving the tablet first rule.

ONCE AGAIN, I will quote the actual definition of a pre-order. It's not some "unspoken rule"

A pre-order is an order placed for an item which has not yet been released. The idea for pre-orders came when people found it hard to get popular items in stores due to their popularity. Companies were then given the idea to allow people to reserve their own personal copy, before the release, which has been a huge success. Pre-orders allow consumers to guarantee immediate delivery on release

-Wikipedia

Let's re-quote the pertinent part for you, buddy:

PRE-ORDERS ALLOW CONSUMERS TO GUARANTEE IMMEDIATE DELIVERY ON RELEASE

This isn't just something a few people expect, it's an industry standard. Google failed to provide a pre-order.

If the $25 credit was just for play orders we would have a lot less upset people I think. That could have been a nice benefit to ordering from play. If anyone can walk into a store today and pick one up I could see how they are upset. I'm waiting on mine also.

The problem with Google is that Google doesn't get consumer sentiment. This is what separates Apple from the rest. Sure you pay for it. But Apple's customer service and support is second to none in the consumer electronics industry. Google aspires to be like Apple (in some ways), but they don't see that hardware is only half the equation.

In typical Google fashion, they won't compensate anybody.

At this point, they will do their best to ship the tablets out and pray that most people forgive their mistake.

You want to teach Google a small lesson? Refuse shipment. Buy in-store. They only way they'll learn is if they get a small flood of refused shipments.
