Stop calling people pitiful! Of course Google did something wrong. Many of their CSR have admitted so. Google fully intended to have the Nexus 7 in the hands of the people who preordered early through the Play Store before or at the time of the retail store release. They did not ship in time. They did not make the proper arrangements with their manufacturing, shipping and retail partners. There is no way they would have offered two day shipping as the only option if they were not attempting to time the release. UPS offers many shipping options, at many different price points. Reading between the lines of the shipping messages people have received, the Nexus 7 was supposed to ship between July 9 and July 11 for a July 12 or July 13 release. Whether or not they compensate customers is a good question. I have and will continue to request a shipping fee refund.
They don't always work that way. As a matter of fact, they rarely work that way. One of the only company that successfully manages that is apple.

What does pre-order mean?
Answer:
It's basicly when you put your name down and buy something before it will be released
so when it does come out there will be a copy of it reserved for you.
A pre-order is an order placed for an item which has not yet been released. The idea for pre-orders came when people found it hard to get popular items in stores due to their popularity. Companies were then given the idea to allow people to reserve their own personal copy, before the release, which has been a huge success. Pre-orders allow consumers to guarantee immediate delivery on release
-Wikipedia
to order something such as a book, DVD or handbag before the item goes on sale, to ensure that you are one of the first people to get it.
-Macmillan English Dictionary
Apparently you don't pre-order things much. I've pre-ordered well over a dozen pieces of consumer electronics, from graphics cards to cell phones and that's ALWAYS how it works. If getting your pre-order at least mailed by the launch date was so rare, information sources like Wikipedia and the McMillan English Dictionary wouldn't include things like "guaranteed delivery upon release" and "to ensure that you are one of the first people to get it." in their definitions.
I friggin' CALLED them and asked, man. CSR confirmed that 7/13 was the launch date. Go ahead and call them yourself if you don't believe me.
Then explain pre orders for apple products that aren't shipped two to three weeks after they go on sale in stores due to high volume.

Really? That's funny. I preordered my iPhones online and the UPS man showed up at my door with the two of them at the beginning of the day ON launch day. Generally Apple is VERY good about getting it's preordered products to its customers on launch day.
Ordered my N7 on June 27th at 11:30 AM. It's pretty apparent that Play does not use first in first out for fulfillment.
Those of us that "pre"-ordered and paid for 2-day shipping got punked by Play.
This will be my last Play purchase. What's the point?
Google isn't apple nor are they the publishers of popular books. Google makes software and web based services. This is their first product that they are helping to ship. And they don't make the hardware. Asus does so yeah.

Exactly. It seems as if you ordered later you are getting a tracking number. I ordered on the 27th, and don't have a tracking number.

MC511, did you preorder through the Play Store?
This is what I have a problem with. This hasn't happend with any company I've dealt with except Google. I don't have a problem waiting but, I don't understand how people pre-ordering a week later are getting tracking information and I have nothing .That makes no sense.
