Head to Head Performance comparison of EVO LTE and SGS3

Honestly, they are both great phones. You can't go wrong picking up either one of them.
Quite a nice predicament having two super-quality phones like these to choose from!

I hear ya buddy. I fixed (for the most part) the multitasking issues on my evo by rooting.

Actually, rooting doesn't fix anything. In your case you rooted so you could then adjust memory management settings, and that is what made a difference for you :)

It is strange that even though the USA Evo LTE, One X, and GSIII all use the same identical CPU (CPU/GPU/Chipset) they have slight variations in the benchmarks. It is even stranger that it seems like most of the time, the Evo LTE is on top (when I would expect more random variation). None of the variation is statistically relevant, it is just curious.

You can run a benchmark on the same device and get a slightly different score. That is just the nature of benchmarks. I work with people that run benchmarks for a living and it's a process of running the benchmarks over and over until you finally get the score you are looking for. In may ways it's a crapshoot. Sure there are things here and there to be tweaked, but at the end of they day it's the same HW implemented by various manufacturers with varying results.

I assumed the scores they posted were averages across many runs. No?

True. And, again, the differences in these cases are not statistically meaningful.

I think, barring signal issues, I'll be getting the S3. While I like the EVO screen, the Menu bar that pops up on the bottom is atrocious.

2GB, Wolfson, button configuration & multitasking won me over.

Lol signal issues? I had the pleasure of messing around with my friends s3 today and already noticed the same connectivity problems I had with the s2 when trying to browse the internet. Once put to sleep on multipule occasions 3g data would be inactive once I turned the phone back on for internet browsing and the only way to get it to work is to turn off mobile neyowrk and put it back on just like I had to do with my s2, o would have thought Samsung would had fixed this bit obviously not, same thing for WiFi. I have had no connectivity problems with my EVO LTE

For the record it wasn't just web browsing, bit anything that involved data connection in general.

The sound (speaker) answer is always going to be user/personal opinion. In my opinion:

EVO 4G
Speaker during calls quality: Okay, not great. Seemed to crackle on bassier or lower sounds but audio quality in general was kind of flat

EVO LTE
Speaker during calls quality: The bass and overall EQ of the calls seems a little better then flat. No buzzyness with low-end sounds etc. Well rounded and acceptable for calls producing good quality reproduction

EVO 4G
MP3s, locally loaded songs playing: Decent output, well adjusted EQ. Reminds me of a BOSE system (no highs no lows, must be BOSE). With DSP added, much better quality so stock it needed help with overall quality, with DSP, perfectly acceptable for a cell phone but not as a MP3 type personal player. Then again, my Ipod Touch doesn't sound any if better then either cell phone.

EVO LTE:
MP3s, locally loaded songs playing: The overall output could be better, its not so low that is not acceptable to me just could be higher stock. Sound quality, EQ, in my opinion blows the doors off my original EVO and Ipod touch for comparison. With Beats Audio, to me it compares to DSP x 1000, as a musician (for hobby now) I love it. But again, its like a pre EQ thing, fixed sonic differences with overall mix, highs, lows, midrange etc. I hear much better quality just a tad lower in overall volume output.

Both seemed comparable with BT streaming of Pandora, XM, You tube etc running without DSP or Beats Audio. With Beats, again in my opinion blows the doors off the original.

Not a huge comparison but someone asked for more details in sound quality between the two and again, just my opinion.

The Beats Audio or tweaking the audio on the new EVO LTE produces some amazing quality. I have not personally compared to GS3 which is what this 'should' be about anyway but wanted to throw that out there.

I have recorded some good quality live music, guitar recordings etc and pretty happy with the results. Personally, for me..I love the sound and possibilities of this new EVO. I am rooted btw, running Fresh 1.0 for link updates and quick settings. I am using Nova launcher and have been since pretty much after I got the phone in late May. And using stock kernel. I do recommend a nice quality SD card with class 10 for recording and video etc, for me it made a difference (small) on playback quality compared to using the internal memory.

Hope that helps.

Not having 2 gigs of RAM and lack of multitasking is not two separate issues. You put in 2 gig of RAM and the multitasking issue and complaints about Sense being bloated disappear. Why? Because it'll no longer take away from the user experience. It's interesting the HTC One XXL was leaked today as having 2 gigs RAM. (TechnoBuffalo) I guess they learned their lesson.

I rather deal with the multitasking issue than to have to put up with Samsung's horrible connectivity issues any day. Embarrising that they haven't fixed the issue and that its now onthe third galaxy s phone and is still dealing with the same problems, people think the multitasking reloading is bad, not as time consuming as having to gointo settings and flip mobile network, WiFi, or 4g back and fourth so that I can use the data. I have multipule videos on my YouTube channel of all three phones doing it, guess Samsung didint learn there lesson three phones in the making and probably won't when the fourth comes out as well

Wtf are you talking about, you obviously can't read due to the fact that I didn't mention GPS once in the last post. Do yourself a favor next time and actually READ what I post before you decide lash back over something that wasn't even stated, and as for the data connectivity issues just search them ingeneral on YouTube and you'll find plenty of complaints. Don't talk without even having the slightest bit of common knowledge next time. And for the record the s2 GPS is garbage as well ;)

It wasn't as bad by comparison to the Galaxy S 1...I think lots of people are too critical...being able to locate you within meters is pretty reasonable...people who ed in the GS1 had a legitimate gripe, people who griped about the GPS in the Galaxy S 2 were largely nitpicking

I never actually had issues withthe GPS on my old s2, it was always the data connectivity.wheni would have 4g on and put the phone to sleep and then went back to turn it on and use browsing let's say or email, the 4g would always have the sleeping icon next to it as if I'm not trying to access it, and the only way to get it back workingwould be to toggle it off and on a million times the same would go for 3g and wifi. The GPS on my new EVO however locks on and loads way faster than the s2 did.

Ouch! Are you talking to me? I wasn't lashing at all, perhaps you should read. I was agreeing with you and honestly asking to see the videos. My experience with the Galaxy S was a gps problem, your's was data connectivity. Christ, chill out.
