Horrible battery life!

I think the battery life is fine, even quite good.

Coming from an HTC EVO 4G and most recently a Galaxy Nexus, the battery life seems much better so far. I'm at 62% today after 13 1/2 hours today with comparatively minimal use, but after driving 180 miles though mountains checking baseball scores, where attempts to connect in the mountains on my prior devices used far more battery. I didn't have extensive screen usage, but this battery much better than both of my prior smart phones. I try to use wi-fi at at all times where feasible, and I have been very pleased so far.

It's also one great phone. Very fast, and resolution superiority is noticeable and a pleasure.

Coming from a Galaxy Nexus and a Thunderbolt before that, this phone's battery life is phenomenal. It's lasted me all day in a 4G area. I haven't had a phone yet that'll last me literally all day with moderate usage. This phone is awesome

3rd day here, I've gone from 100 percent charge 6 am to 15 percent at midnight with a lot of use. It takes approx. 3.5 hrs, turned off to full charge. I will use it all day, turn off at bedtime, plug in, wake up and repeat. I'm fine with that.

I wonder if fast charge will get enabled in an update. It needs to charge faster, some people rely on a mid day charge to make it, unless HTC bumps to 3000mah+, 3.5 hours is a long time.

I would think most people could plug in if they need to from time to time to pick up some needed juice

Coming from the iPhone 5, I was a little concerned about battery life on the One. So far, I've been pleasantly surprised. For my usage (I realize this is different for everyone), the One is at least on par with the iPhone 5 and actually a little better. It idles quite well. And I haven't really noticed the slow charge time with the OEM charger or my Verizon wall charger. No complaints at all.

Ok this was last night, anyone wanna give some insight as to whether this is good, average, bad? I installed Snapdragon guru last night when the battery was low and turned off Wi-Fi and 4G eventually too

What app are you guys using to see screen on time? I guess this phone still does not show it?

BetterBatteryStats, paid app. GSam Batter Monitor is another and free. There are plenty others in the Play store.

I have a question about battery life too. I picked up my Verizon HTC One on the 22nd. I have disabled apps that I can't delete and don't use auto or full screen brightness. I'm in a great 4g coverage area. I lose about 1% of battery life per every 2-3 minutes. I can unplug it at 100%, check email and read the news and within 15 minutes I'm down to 94% battery remaining. Is that normal to loose a percent every 2-3 minutes? I'm trying to found out soon if I need to replace mine before the 14 days are up. Thanks for any help.

No that is not normal. You have a bad battery and you need to replace the phone.

Sounds like the exact same problem I'm having

6 hours screen on time with 9% left. Anything but horrible for me! I'll be trying with 4G as opposed to WiFi tomorrow.
Just curious how your Screen on time was on 4G? I've been unplugged for 20 hours now, went to bed on wifi, got up and spent most of the day today traveling on highways on 4G and got 1.5 hrs screen time and have 46% battery left. the phone does very well idling, but once the screen comes on I loose a percent every few minutes.

I unplugged my phone yesterday at 8am and plugged it back in around 10:30 pm. At this point I still had JUST under 50% battery left with 3 hour screen time! It didn't seem to be any worse over LTE than WiFi. I was pleasantly surprised! Absolutely shocked at how good the battery is for me!

Also, I would say my brightness is set to around 20%

EDIT: Here is my battery at 60%. Just took this. I am on LTE exclusively with 20% brightness

I picked the HTcOne on day one at VZW here in NYC. The phone is amazing and everything I have found so far to be way above average except the battery life. I have read this and that on why/how VZW could take away from such a great device with something as major as user battery control capabilities. VZW was unaware and weren't helpful really at all with this phone from any of my questions. So I called HTC and after an hour or so of customer service support I found that this worked for me.
1. No battery saving apps!! They ultimately use your battery and that defeats the purpose, right?
2. Battery optimization reset, this was the answer I was looking for. Plug your phone into the wall charger and press the power button and the volume up/down simultaneously for 2 minutes. It'll turn on and off a few times, ignore it until you hit the 2 minute mark. This was the game changer for my phone.
An HTC rep walked me through a few other steps. Like turning off wifi as I leave my home or work and walking around NYC. I think everyone has a wifi spot in this city so that alone drained my battery looking for their wifi to use. You just have to be diligent to turn it back on when you get to your destination. GPS, same thing, I'm not in need of constant updated location services when I have the phone in my pocket. So I turn location services on when I need directions and off when I don't. Next I control my brightness not "auto-brightness". I leave it at 1 or two bars out of the three in the settings pull down (this depends on if I am inside or outside). Disable as many of the apps, push notifications, live widgets you don't use and that garbage bloatware too. I use emails all day but I left that frequency to my needs. Also, I do updates for apps over wifi. Then I turned off FastBoot and the vibration when I type/text on the phone.
I know this is a smartphone and I know the whole entire point of these devices are to consume data, information and "streamline life". But if the phone is bogged down by every battery saving app, bloatware, and unnecessary apps in the background to fix this problem take your phone back to VZW and get a "DumbPhone", you'll be happier.
And thats all I have from my SoapBox, enjoy the HTcOne because it's a Beast of a phone!

I picked up my One on Thursday and I have found the battery life to be a joke. It is almost as bad as the GNex. For example, I put my screen brightness on low and screen timeout at 15 seconds. I close all apps and between midnight and 7am I had lost 21% in standby. That is not acceptable. During the day I can only make it until noon before I need to charge it. I hope that the battery life will improve by next week or I will be taking this back. I love everything about the phone but this battery life could be the downfall of this phone.

Definitely not normal. Try a hard reset and if you are still having issues exchange it for another one.
